Republican presidential candidate and former Texas Governor Rick Perry strongly criticized fellow candidate Donald Trump for his remarks about Senator Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) at Saturday’s Family Leadership Summit in Iowa.
Perry’s discussion began with Frank Luntz asking the audience who they would invest in the most between teachers, nurses, and veterans. Perry then expressed his desire to answer the question. He stated, “if you don’t first keep this country free. If you don’t first have the investment in the men and women who are willing their hand up and say, ‘Here am I, send me,’ You will never have the dollars to hire the teacher. You will never have the dollars to hire a nurse.”

No, Bergdahl was not captured by the enemy. He WAS the enemy and defected to them. That is just TREASON, and anyway you look at it a violation of the UCMJ punishable by DEATH.
McCain was actively fighting the enemy as he was ordered and was blown out of the sky, getting seriously f’d up near to death and still suffering the pain after almost 50 years. The WAY he got captured was nothing like holding his hands up and waving a white rag on his rifle. He was a casualty before he touched the ground.
So there’s a huge difference.

Perry has gone off into never never land.
To some degree, I think those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are a bit flustered and embarrassed at being hailed as heroes by everyone and at every turn. They served with honor and personal sacrifice. I am very thankful that they sacrificed and served.
Heroes go beyond service and are acknowledged with extra recognition and honor.
There is too much hero-inflation today. It’s becoming like organized youth sports where everyone gets a trophy for being there.
That said, I am thankful for those who wear the uniform to represent our country - despite the poor leadership they are given - and serve honorably.

I knew some POWs and they “ disliked” McCain
They never would say what he did to earn their contempt - they were too honorable for that,
but you know how it is when one if your fellow soldiers is a rat or worse and everyone knows but the guy still gets his medals along with everyone else

I am really sick and tired of McCain using his military service. It is always used to shut others up from criticizing his horrid treatment of citizens of his own political party.
He may have been okay once, but he sure is not anymore.

Did you not cringe at what came out of Trump’s mouth? He can spin it however he wants, but what he said was disgraceful.

Neither will Bush or Rubio.
So far, I have ruled out three of the current Republican candidates, and all of the Democrats.
The rest are still under consideration, to some degree, most hanging on by mere threads.
