Republican presidential candidate and former Texas Governor Rick Perry strongly criticized fellow candidate Donald Trump for his remarks about Senator Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) at Saturdays Family Leadership Summit in Iowa.
Perrys discussion began with Frank Luntz asking the audience who they would invest in the most between teachers, nurses, and veterans. Perry then expressed his desire to answer the question. He stated, if you dont first keep this country free. If you dont first have the investment in the men and women who are willing their hand up and say, Here am I, send me, You will never have the dollars to hire the teacher. You will never have the dollars to hire a nurse.

Perry is a disgrace. Totally in the race for himself.
A sealed border perhaps, but no apology.
Perry has been in Iowa constantly for months, presenting himself as a champion of veterans. He’s gaining no traction and might believe he needs to gamble on something that draws attention to himself.
This is getting out of hand. I really doubt Trump has any disrespect for the military, but just for old politicians who have overstayed their time.
Perry running around pointing fingers at Trump is seriously pathetic.
Of course Perry is already a pathetic professional politician so pathetic is to be expected.
These people will do an say anything to silence Trump.
Mexico, Bush, MSM, Communist, leftist, NBC, D.C., academia, the corrupt party insiders and on and on have all failed.
And they will continue to fail.
These RINOs have learned absolutely nothing from GW Bush’s “immigration” fiasco. It was the ONE domestic issue that he was ever strong on and he was on the wrong side of it. We were all told that it was inevitably going through after deals were already made and it was the eve of the signing. After the citizens absolutely barraged every legislative and executive branch phone line until they stopped taking calls, the RINOs backed off. These clowns just don’t learn and are showing why they’re unfit for office.
I can’t stand McCain but Trumps comment was out of line . I might make it if at least once I’d charged into no man’s land with a gun in each hand and a knife in my teeth but short of that, no.
It certainly does not excuse McCain's behavior; however, I think POW's can certainly be heroes and people to be liked. The late Sen. Denton refused to betray America in captivity and even blinked out the word torture while being interviewed in then North Vietnam. I had the pleasure of speaking to the great man on a talkshow once. If any POW should have been President, it should have been Adm. Denton.
I’m a veteran and I’m with Trump
McCain is not the hero he has been held up to be for too many years and his neglect of the still-unaccounted MIAs and his neglect of veterans issues and his consorting with Qadaffi and ISIS show him to be a puffed up toad and a fool
I’m a veteran, and Trump does not owe me an apology. I’m a Cruz/Walker supporter, but so far Trump has not seriously offended me.
As for Jeb/Christie/Rubio, they owe all decent Americans an apology. I’m not expecting them to acknowledge that, just as they should not expect me to support anyone who is pro-Amnesty.
That's true. Calling every person who ever donned a military uniform a "hero" really demeans those who did truly heroic acts while wearing that uniform.
Does getting shot down and captured by the enemy automatically qualify anyone for "hero" status?
Bo Bergdahl was captured by the enemy. And FWIW, John McCain has done more to destroy the Constitution and American Sovereignty than Bo Bergdahl.
That helps Iowans learn more about him, or expect certain benefits to continue, but not other places. It’s still early. Maybe, if all else fails, Rick Perry will try aiming high and maintaining a focus on what it is about America he wants to develop.
I’m not even that interested in voting for Perry, but I dislike seeing this circular firing squad of do-gooders shaking their accusatory fingers at anyone who refuses to act ashamed of being conservative.
Of course. But he’s (McStain) come a long way since then. And all of it the wrong way.
Perry or Kerry are they the same guy.. anybody ever see them together?..
Maybe it’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde who knows..
OR he’s just stupid..
And I say this as a retired Airman who served for 22 years...
When you're on a combat flying mission, you're no less a warrior than a man on the ground with a rifle, a cannon, a missile in the tube or a sailor on deck, plunging into harm's way.
When you are a flyer/pilot/aviator/air crewmen over enemy territory, performing your mission of bombing, strafing, dogfighting, reconnaissance, whatever, you are in harm's way and planes that get shot or take flak can break, become non-function and crash. You have two choices, go down with the wreck, hoping you can get it operational again or “land” it, or you can bail out. The first is very likely to get you killed and the second is just normally likely to get you killed.
Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand were covered with crashed US aircraft and most crews who crashed died. The majority that is. Only a few are “lucky” to survive, and many are severely injured.
So it was with McCain. The missile that hit his plane also hurt him, he bailed and was further injured on bailing and landing. Multiple broken bones, lacerations and trauma. This happened to him because he was fighting for his country. Say what you will about his foolishness now, but that in itself was heroic.
Of course he was captured, denied medical attention by a horrible enemy, tortured, was prisoner of war for many years, etc., etc., but to me what made him a hero was not being captured or being a prisoner, but willing to get in a rocket with wings and fly around while people tried to actively kill you, and, as it turned out, nearly did, with terrible, painful injuries he's still suffering from today.
I wish he'd resign his seat in the Senate, though. He's worse than useless there.
Perry is the bottom of the conservative Presidential hopefuls but ahead of the rinos like Bush, Graham, etc. Like many pubs, he is cozy with the left in many aspects and that is a bad, bad sign.
Hey Perry: STFU
Right! Look up the meaning of hero on Wikipedia. McCain was just one of the thousands of POW and he did nothing special.
Keep it up Trump!
Loving every word you are saying!
