Republican presidential candidate and former Texas Governor Rick Perry strongly criticized fellow candidate Donald Trump for his remarks about Senator Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) at Saturdays Family Leadership Summit in Iowa.
Perrys discussion began with Frank Luntz asking the audience who they would invest in the most between teachers, nurses, and veterans. Perry then expressed his desire to answer the question. He stated, if you dont first keep this country free. If you dont first have the investment in the men and women who are willing their hand up and say, Here am I, send me, You will never have the dollars to hire the teacher. You will never have the dollars to hire a nurse.

I heard Ann Coulter on the Jeanine Piro show. Ann Coulter said that Trump tried to walk back that statement. Ann Coulter blamed the gaff on the pressure Trump is under; etc. It appears at one time he said something as dumb as I criticized him for, but, at least, he didn’t double down on his remark and, according to Ann Coulter, did walk it back somewhat.
Me neither. McCain is an idiot.
He doesn’t owe me one, I don’t think he’s a hero either. I served with some real hero’s on the ground in the Infantry who never got a mention.
If Rick wants to become relevant again, he needs to follow up on his earlier boasts and seal off the Texas border with Mexico despite the Feds inaction. If you want to blow smoke, you need to be able to light the fire.
” but to me what made him a hero was not being captured or being a prisoner, but willing to get in a rocket with wings and fly around while people tried to actively kill you”
Are all military pilots then heroes?
Begs the question, what is a military hero? I respect and admire all members of the military, but only a small percentage I see as heroes.
Heroes to me save others lives, or die doing so, or lose limbs doing so; or lead troops to great victories.
I respect McCains military service. To me he is a war survivor, as were many. He happened to go into politics.
Dear enig,
It has been discovered, in my many years in the military, and as a civilian in DoD, that there has been a new twist, on the old saw: “’Those that cant, teach.’””, and it is that they become .... Subject Matter Experts, and THAT ‘saw’ is:
“Subject matter Experts, seldom are.”
