Atlanta radio program The Bert Show had a guest on this week who has managed to incite the rage of just about every millennial in the state of Georgia (and beyond, the show is syndicated in 11 states).
The woman, a 22-year-old college junior named Kim, who did not give her last name on air and was allowed to use a voice disguiser to even further shield her identity, came to the three hosts with a confession: in just short three years she had managed to blow through a $90,000 college fund left to her by her grandparents. Kim has one year left of school and no way to cover her remaining $20,000 tuition balance.

Then my parents suggested I go take out a loan at a credit union and Im, like, how am I supposed to do that?" I have to go inside the bank to get a loan?
A budding socialist ran out of other people's money. She doesn't want to work. She's got a hard look at reality bearing down on her. Maybe, just maybe she will learn to grow up. How many people worked their way thru college without a 90K nest egg?
I agree. The parents are at fault. They never should have put $90k in the hands of such an irresponsible person.
You could easily go through $90,000 these days your first year in lots of schools.
She never had an entry level job either. What was she going to do when she got her degree and her first interviewer asked about her work history?
Or how she financed her education....that question does get asked, and someone who solely got loans or help from mom and dad is at a disadvantage compared to others who worked to finance their own education.
“I agree. The parents are at fault. They never should have put $90k in the hands of such an irresponsible person.”
She was left the $90k by her GRANDparents.
Judge Smails: “We need ditch diggers, too.”
But the parents must have known about it. They can still work with their child.
Sounds like she needs to find herself a sugar daddy.
Hard work makes you appreciate the value of a buck.
Kim has one year left of school and no way to cover her remaining $20,000 tuition balance.
Hey Kim. There’s these nifty things called “jobs”. If you show up there everyday, and act like you give a crap, they give you money.
Put down the bong, quit financing your freeloading friends party, go to math, and biology class ‘cause I’m pretty sure your Dad isn’t 1,000,000 years old, and get your leech ass out and do something for yourself.
At this point the only thing your parents owe you is their love, and sounds like you’re wearing thin on that!
At least she was blowing through her own family’s money and not the taxpayers’ via financial aid.
Memo to Kim:
Sucks to be you!
Better learn how to hook and do out call to cover that last year’s tuition!
Future Congresswoman.
She’s no child. She just acts like one. She obviously doesn’t want to grow up.
My bet is that she is too selfish and ugly to the bone for even a sugar daddy. /no sarc
All I need to hear.
I have rejected the millenials some time ago. Gen X has turned out to have some redeeming value after all. Later ones, jury is out. This last bunch, like, you know!
The girl is now 22 and cannot pay for her senior year so she has had this money since, what 19 or so?
Parents were clueless and careless. The girl is an irresponsible idiot. Sounds like the apple did not fall far from the tree.
Call it quits after three years and grab the old fashioned Mrs Degree. You can then put your beer fetching and sandwich making skills to good use. There’s no other way out of your predicament, darling.
I had a high school friend who went through a lot more than that, and in 1970’s dollars. It’s like giving drugs to addicts. And to think that 100 years ago, 17-year olds were actually heading up families.
