Donald Trump Unloads on Immigration Critics: ‘The United States Has Become a Dumping Ground’
AP via Breitbart ^ | 6 July 2015

NEW YORK (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stood firm Monday on his description of Mexican immigrants as criminals.

The businessman, under fire from critics in and out of his party, issued a lengthy statement refusing to back off comments he made in the speech launching his presidential bid last month. In it, he called Mexican immigrant criminals and rapists, prompting several businesses, including NBC, Univision and Macy’s, to cut ties with Trump.

In his new statement, Trump said “the Mexican government is forcing their most unwanted people into the United States” and claimed that in many cases, they are “criminals, drug dealers, rapists, etc.”

He said later Monday, during a charity golf tournament at one of his courses, that his standing in some polls is proof that many Americans share his views.

“I think the polls are a testament,” said Trump, one of more than a dozen Republicans running for president. “In the old days, they used to use a term, `the silent majority.’ We have the silent majority back, folks.”

Polls this early in the race tend to reflect name recognition more than depth of support for a candidate and few in the GOP regard Trump, a well-known TV figure, as a serious presidential contender despite poll standings that may be good enough to qualify him to be in the first GOP debate. Debate guidelines provide for the top 10 candidates in national polling to participate.

One major brand that has not cut ties with Trump is the New York Yankees. The team’s co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner, who organized the charity golf tournament at Trump’s new course in the Bronx, said the real estate developer is “a loyal friend and I am loyal to my friends.”

Most definitely verifiable with a cursory look, yes.
And nothing positive about anyone.

he wasn't discriminating between legal and illegal in the claims he made which got him into so much trouble

Think that is the crux of the conversation here. Most of us, including this writer, who is not ready to endorse anyone at this very early juncture, do not believe that Trump is really into "so much trouble." He seems to be doing very well. He has played the emotion driven idiosyncrasies of the mass media very well indeed, to garner enough free and very favorable publicity to more than offset the lost business contracts.

Now whether he has engaged in some hyperbole or not; he has made some points that needed to be made. Certainly it is critically important to the American future, just whom we are allowing to come into the American States. And if there is a very substantial statistically significant difference in the level of criminal act participation, in any recognizable group, in comparison with the level in the rooted American population, it is absolutely indefensible that the mainstream media finds it to be an unfair subject for discussion.

God Bless Trump & Cruz for speaking truth to bullies.

And while on the subject, consider the treatment of Jason Richwine, who tried to raise other questions about the mental qualification of those flocking into America. (Richwine.)

I have nothing, personally, against any people on the face of the earth; but the idea that all fit equally well into the traditional culture of the Americans, is just plain silly.

Again! God Bless Trump for speaking truth to bullies.

Not true. I have praised Cruz several times for defending Trump. It's what a grown-up GOP candidate does.

It looks like Trump has finally hired a writer to put his message forth in a cogent manner. The statement on Breitbart was IMO very well written and framed Donald’s stand on immigration in a more professional way. What he says is true but sometimes its a little too in your face.

I don't know if it's hyperbole or he just doesn't know how to talk or it's just a Yankee thing.

Can’t be a welfare state and a dumping ground for third world countries. Choose one or the other.

Oh - they are also heavily laced with MS13 and other varieties of gang bangers who view the US as fertile ground for selling drugs and “organizing.”......

All with the blessings of and lining the pockets of MANY MANY politicians, who see this as the best BOOM since the Gold Rush, can't get much better than that.

BUT. THE IN THE FACE technique gets the attention and publicity that none of the others are getting. There’s plenty time and space to issue the well honed rhetoric that most of the public ignores.
Trump is using his celebrity and flamboyant reputation to catapult himself to top of herd and expose the weakness of other candidates

My wife and her family LEGALLY immigrated to this country from Jamaica. This family is not part of the immigrants who are parasites. Her Mom was a Pharmacist (the legal kid) and both daughters earned their Master’s Degrees. Took them nearly 7 years to jump through all the hoops. They used to be democrats. Now they wouldn’t touch one with a 7-foot pole! Voted republican in the last 4 presidential elections. They are disgusted with how illegals are given the red carpet treatment, while they obeyed the law. Their are a lot of legal immigrants who indeed make positive contributions and are taxpayers to this nation. They routinely display more grit and determination to succeed than a large percentage US citizens born here waiting for a handout. Those are the ones who deserve praise, not the parasites that are being allowed here.

“...that the criminals of America have sought refuge among their hoarded masses.”

But not 30 million. If you are an American, try evading a traffic ticket. You will be destroyed. In you are an illegal committing an actual crime, by breaking and entering, you are lionized and receive taxpayer benefits.

“I was just pointing out that Trump is acting like a fool when he makes these ridiculous claims.”

That would not be a wise thing to say in the presence of the father and brother of the lady that was murdered in San Francisco. And there are many more just like her.

“Hooray for a very Brave man.”

Donal Trump did not need this crap! His life was pretty nice to say the least. Many will debate his motivation.

I believe DT is sincere. He is not in it for fame, money, ego or publicity. He sincerely can't tolerate the crap that you and I have to keep digesting everyday, and he has the ability to step up to a big microphone and speak his mind.

Regardless of how you feel about Trump, the fact is he put his money where his mouth is and put his ass on the line and is doing it apologetically.

The rest of the GOP field better get used to hearing what a courageous man sounds like. And BTW, I don't care if he agrees with me on every stinking little issue! And I also don't care if he creates chaos in the GOP resulting in who knows what. I am tired of the status quo!

“Having Trump in the lead on this critical issue blunts the message.”

Waiting around for one of your “acceptable” candidates to deliver “the message” is futile. None of them (except Cruz) has the guts to meet this thing head on. They are all weak and ineffective.

In an interview with PolitiFact, Tom Vinger, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, stated that since Jan. 2012, a monthly average 5,899 “foreign nationals” have been arrested in Texas. A staggering 40 percent have a criminal record from arrested previous arrests. The term “foreign nationals” includes immigrants both legally and illegally living in the U.S.

Another statistic from the DPS states that a total of 203,685 foreign-born individuals were booked into Texas county jails from October 2008 through July 1, 2014, again including both legal and illegal foreign nationals.
