The flags of the Confederacy that flew high over Fort Sumter, the site where the first shots of the Civil War were fired, have been taken down from the historic site.
The decision to remove the flags came from a directive by National Park Service Director Jonathan Jarvis in Washington, D.C. which reads: "Confederate flags shall not be flown in units of the National Park system and related sites with the exception of specific circumstances where the flags provide historic context. ... All superintendents and program managers should evaluate how Confederate flags are used ... and remove the flags where appropriate." "Shall not be flown" is the only text that appears in bold in the letter.
The site of the Civil War's first battle is clearly a "historic" one, but according to a Fort Sumter spokesperson, it doesn't qualify as a place where "flags provide historical context," local WMBF News reported....

This is pure madness. Completely irrational.
I’m going to put out a confederate battle flag on the 4th as a protest.
And probably make a rainbow “flag” with construction paper to burn.
The depth of this Country shrivels by the day.
I know this information has been posted all over FR the last day or two but it doesn’t hurt to read again the sentiments of Andrew Young, a true civil rights stalwart, and what he thinks of the Confederate flag being displayed.

The PC fascist insanity taking over America in just the past week seems to have no bounds. The Supreme Court is trashing our heritage, the RINO traitor GOP establishment has joined the Dems in trashing our heritage, now our less than venerable institutions are joining in to trash the most basic heritage of our land and people. Ironically the Stars and Bars still fly freely and proudly among the Confederados down in Brazil (I posted on this a couple days ago: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3306659/posts ) Somehow the Brazilians have had the good sense to simply leave the Confederate descendants alone to celebrate their heritage and their resistance to government tyranny, whereas our leaders now embrace it.
The situation is indeed insane. We need to continue fighting and ride it out. It will end, but not without damage.
A few years ago, I anticipated 2 decades for recovery, but I’m now pushing back to 3. I plan on living long enough to be part of it.
If they’ve been taken down due to some being offended, then we can expect them to remove all those fag ‘pride’ flags... right?

Cheer up. We’re just seeing the last throes of the ‘60s and early ‘70s activists having their turn at government before they get wheeled into the old folks home. The kids of the Reagan era and the dot-com boom are very quickly moving up and taking their places, and their agenda will be COMPLETELY different.
This is Obama’s, Holder’s, and Sharpton’s subversion as these sad, sorry, race hustlers have been stirring hate for six plus years. Obama is sending some 20 million to the families of dead in that small church and it’s ours/the taxpayers money. After the flags are gone these black panthers will start changing the names of military installations like Ft Lee, Ft Bragg, FT Benning, etc. Wait till we get the bill for Baltimore. He is now trying to finalize things with Cuba and Iran to further ruin this country. Any day I expect to see Obama go back to Pakistan to celebrate destroying us with his Muslim college pal and then go thank Soros.
