Nearly one in three Americans owns a gun

(Reuters Health) - Almost a third of American adults own a gun, but the rate varies widely by state and tops out at almost 62 percent of people in Alaska, new survey data show.

Gun ownership was closely tied to “social gun culture,” wherein family and friends also own guns and think less of non-gun owners, researchers found.

“Considering the presence of deeply rooted gun culture and the estimated number of guns in the U.S. to be 310 million, we (suspected) that social gun culture is associated with gun ownership,” said lead author Dr. Bindu Kalesan of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University in New York.

"People should use the calm before the storm to learn how to shoot.Because every shot that misses it’s target is just useless fireworks."

I practice, Practice and Practice more.

I have hunted all my life from 10 years old and shot hand gun (revolver) competition locally and every time I go anywhere I WATCH my surroundings. I will not go easy.........🔫

Nice companion piece to the Rifleman's Prayer:

Oh Lord,
I would live my life in freedom, peace and happiness, enjoying the simple pleasures of hearth and home.
I would die an old, old man in my own bed, preferably of sexual overexertion.

But if that is not to be, Lord, if monsters such as this should find their way to my little corner of the world on my watch,
then help me to sweep those bastards from the ramparts, because doing that is good, and right, and just.

And if in this I should fall, let me be found atop a pile of brass, behind the wall I made of their corpses.

Just kidding. That’s damn good shooting. I might be able to hit one at 50 feet. Maybe.

“...with my old wore out Taurus 9mm...”

Sounds to me like you need a NEW Taurus to wear out!!! Perfect time to go pick up another one!!!

Saw a BEAUTIFUL 03A4 Springfield on the shelf this past Sunday... WWII sniper repro, long Unertl scope and all. Stunning piece (price was stunning too...). But it’s a goal... and a Man’s got to have goals...

One in three Americans MUST own more than one gun,
because there are as many guns in private hands as there are people in the country, men, women, and children.

I have the personal protection device. I have the home protection device and I have the meat getting gun. My next goal is a right proper Constitutional protection device, preferably something in 7.62 or .223.

Typical rural ranch/farm needs at least a shotgun with changeout barrels for bird hunting/defense, small caliber varmint rifle and larger caliber game rifle. At least those, and if you have kids that hunt with you, duplicate those 3 types accordingly. Matters not if pump, bolt, single shot or semi-auto, hunters choice.

Polls don’t tell any story worth changing your life over.

I can guarantee you...within Baltimore city limits, ninety-percent of residents under the age of sixty-five have a weapon. It may or may not be registered, and most probably don’t care to share their status with any poll-taker or gov’t guy.

I grew up in a rural county of Alabama. If you took a real survey there...virtually every single farm has a minimum of one rifle/shotgun. Ninety-five percent of guys over 18 will own a pistol and I’d take a guess that 10-percent of women over 18 own a pistol. If you asked about automatic rifles (AR-16 type), probably half the farmers there have such a weapon with two or three magazines sitting there (a trend over the past ten years)...mostly for farm protection.

I would agree, if you went to downtown Manhattan and asked a thousand residents if they owned weapons...less than ten-percent will admit such. The same might be true of city dwellers of Seattle and Portland. Philly would be the opposite...with most everyone having some type of weapon in the house/apartment.

7.62: M1A or FN FAL.
5.56: AR or Galil...

Sweet!!!

I love the old stuff. Vintage WWII firepower is my favorite. Wood and steel.

This roughly equates to the size of the conservative or traditionalist community in the US. It leaves out the population of felons and members of the criminal class who buy, sell, trade and rent guns within a completely illegal black market. The left studies these figures closely as it gives them a rough order of magnitude as to where their enemies live. I recently got to endure a K Street type mouthing off after the recent court decisions. I hope to have time to write up his remarks. He was a little drunker than he realized and was thus more candid than he would have meant to be. One thing he was really hot on was ‘getting the guns away from the ‘G-D- Christers’. Needless to say his political hero is Bill Clinton who ‘represents the future’.

That would be my brother.

He's been fighting it for a year and last year on the 4th of July he had a heart attack and literally died for 45 seconds on the table.

Still kicking and hopefully he plans on being around for the revolution as I do!

"deeply rooted gun culture"

As opposed to the deeply rooted "sheep" culture of the media and the left.
