One in three Americans MUST own more than one gun,
because there are as many guns in private hands as there are people in the country, men, women, and children.
Typical rural ranch/farm needs at least a shotgun with changeout barrels for bird hunting/defense, small caliber varmint rifle and larger caliber game rifle. At least those, and if you have kids that hunt with you, duplicate those 3 types accordingly. Matters not if pump, bolt, single shot or semi-auto, hunters choice.
Polls don’t tell any story worth changing your life over.
I can guarantee you...within Baltimore city limits, ninety-percent of residents under the age of sixty-five have a weapon. It may or may not be registered, and most probably don’t care to share their status with any poll-taker or gov’t guy.
I grew up in a rural county of Alabama. If you took a real survey there...virtually every single farm has a minimum of one rifle/shotgun. Ninety-five percent of guys over 18 will own a pistol and I’d take a guess that 10-percent of women over 18 own a pistol. If you asked about automatic rifles (AR-16 type), probably half the farmers there have such a weapon with two or three magazines sitting there (a trend over the past ten years)...mostly for farm protection.
I would agree, if you went to downtown Manhattan and asked a thousand residents if they owned weapons...less than ten-percent will admit such. The same might be true of city dwellers of Seattle and Portland. Philly would be the opposite...with most everyone having some type of weapon in the house/apartment.
