Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal slammed the Supreme Court on Friday after its ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage.
The Supreme Court is completely out of control, making laws on their own, and has become a public opinion poll instead of a judicial body, the 2016 presidential candidate said in a statement.
If we want to save some money, lets just get rid of the court, Jindal added.
The 5-4 ruling, which forces all states to recognize same-sex marriage under the 14th Amendments Equal Protection Clause, will fundamentally transform the institution of marriage, he later said.
Marriage between a man and a woman was established by God, and no earthly court can alter that, he added.
Jindal also echoed Franklin Graham warning today that the persecution of Christians is coming with this ruling.
Hillary Clinton and the Left will now mount an all-out assault on religious freedom guaranteed in the First Amendment, he said.
Regardless of your views on marriage, all freedom-loving people must pledge to respect our first amendment rights, he added.
Chief Justice John Roberts was particularly concerned with the religious freedom aspect of the ruling as well.
Many good and decent people oppose same-sex marriage as a tenet of faith, he wrote in his dissenting opinion, and their freedom to exercise religion is—unlike the right imagined by the majority—actually spelled out in the Constitution.
Christians better be ready, Graham warned.
When ISIS takes control, I don’t think they will have a lot of use for the Supreme Court.
The only solution I can see is that WE, conservatives, get off our asses and get out there. Unfortunately we seem to be a leaderless blob. It was heartening when the Tea Party rose up, seemingly leaderless a few years ago.
We are not headed to the loss of our country and it’s Law and Order rather Law and Order have been dismissed by men, right before our eye. It is not a future probability. It is done.
We need to pull an “Obama” on the SC. Just flat out ignore them and their laws they write. If we had the presidency, senate and the house we could just not pay any attention to them. What can they do, declare war on us? They do not control the IRS, FBI or any federal law enforcement group. Issue an arrest warrant? Fine, who is going to enforce it?
Obama gets away with it every day with his daily selection of what laws he does not want to enforce. Just let the ying yangs sit in their ivory tower fussing about “the people” not obeying them. Sotomayer would get bitchy, Kagen would cry Ginsburg would turn into a mummy and Kennedy would get pissed and ride of on his bicycle.
“I predict that within five years, “
Why on earth do you think it will take that long. Within a year, guaranteed.
I will never get over the desecration of the WH with the gay pride colors last night.
If Cruz wins in 2016, I think a lot of wind comes out of the liberal’s sails.
It’s possible that 4 supremes can retire in the next 8 years. With a Republican president and republican congress, it would be possible to put on justices who can reverse what the current court has done. With young justices, the rulings would stay in place for many, many years.
Ginsberg, Breyer and Kennedy can all be gone during the next administration. Can you imagine if they are replaced by justices that think like Scalia and Thomas?
I agree with your predictions, but I think the time-frame is going to be much quicker than you think. Things are deteriorating at an ever-exponential rate.
There’s almost a historical constant, in how unexpectedly rapid collapses occur. It ALWAYS seems to catch people off-guard.
That tactic works for the illegal aliens-just ignore the law. Of course, they have the backing of the federal government, and more than a few local governments (”sanctuary” cities, etc).
True
Yes, it does seem to be operating on the snowball effect-the farther it goes, the faster it goes.
It can be, which is what Ted Cruz has been proposing. But that's not what Jindal has been talking about.
Meanwhile, there is the Rosa Parks / Gandhi solution, which can be practiced by individuals. Doesn't save any money, but smells like freedom, to me.
And it may well come down to that.
People often rise to the expectations and titles given to them. :-)
Slash budgets to the bone. Shut down government if need be.
Here is a fun fact about Louisisna. It’s GDP is roughly 257 billion. For comparison’s sake, it ranks in between Finland and Egypt with regards to GDP.
This is stupid. The institution is just fine. The individuals in it, as in the two other branches, allow personal opinions and gain to influence their decisions.
Not any more.
There is now precedent x > 2.
A different Congress (which did not regard Americans
as their Enemy as they arm al Qaeda) COULD change this.
Not on this Congress. Not ever.
In fact, THIS Congress, including Boehner,
made a LOT of money by this unConstitutional Decision.
GO BOBBY! And a speedy capital trial too!
