If you read the article nobody cites any reason why the logic around the Bob Jones case could no be extended in the context of gays. The people who say don't worry talk about it being politically feasible. We all know how things have moved with LGBT and now the Confederate flag things can move very fast politically.

I think separating private schools from government money would be a good thing in the long run, which is why it won’t happen.

The NYT is creating an issue. They hope that the government will demand that Catholic Schools change their religion or be threatened with a loss of tax exempt status.

This is how the media creates the story and the tail wags the dog. Vagina Jarret is reading this and thinking, “Yes. Yes. That’s a swell idea. We could do that.”

There was never a good justification for pulling tax-exempt status based on inter-racial dating or any other religious belief. However, the Supreme Court hasn’t given a rat’s rear for freedom in many, many years.

I suspect a school that needs tax-exempt status to survive will soon cease being a school - or give up all religious pretense. I’m certain the Supreme Court is going to insist on gay marriage. I don’t think it will be long before we need to sign public oaths of acceptance to gain employment...

If these “Religious Institutions” are run by Christians, they should give unto Cesar and keep faith in God.

Such aspect of my Judeo-Christian theology that leans toward Mark 8:36...

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Once SCOTUS rules in favor of deviant marriage, tax exempt status for churches will be the 1st to go. At least, for those churches that ignore the ruling. I had this conversation with our pastor: I believe that churches who stand on the Bible will lose their status, but that is to be expected, because the churches first rendered unto Caesar that which is God’s. FedGov has NO BUSINESS regulating tax status of churches. The 1st Amendment says so.

I can’t imagine a gay person being to stand going to school at Liberty or Bob Jones. They are not going to hear what they want to hear.

if the state wants homosexual marriage then marriage will be a legal, not religious, institution

church marriages need to be sacramental and thus free of state interference

can the law compel a church to deliver a sacrament? communion? baptism?

It will be far, far more than losing tax-deductible status, the Feds will use "equal access" laws to force schools to permit whomever wants to do whatever they desire on school property.

Courts will pretend that students can't choose to attend schools that permit "gay" housing or roommates.

Just the same as they have done to businesses who do not desire "gay marriage" customers - too bad, someone wants to do business with you, no to force you to do their will!

Tyrany!

Think of all the REAL ESTATE that these TAX EXEMPT churches sit upon these days! A church that will not “bow” to the homo-god will lose the tax exempt status. From that point on they must pay the real estate taxes on the property that they hold... This will be a huge tax base for both local, state and federal entities...
This “marriage equality” ruling coming down is a game changer for churches.

We’ll likely see the day when gov’t can demand churches and their schools be required to court the gays even after they’re stripped of tax exempt status.

We’ve already seen bakers and wedding photographers steamrolled and they didn’t even have tax exempt status.

Churches and schools that wish to adhere to the Bible ought to already be planning to do away with tax-exempt status. Don’t even argue the point. They should not be in the capricious hands of a godless government to start with. Separate now and then they won’t have this weapon to use later.
