Conservative religious schools all over the country forbid same-sex relationships, from dating to couples living in married-student housing, and they fear they will soon be forced to make a wrenching choice. If the Supreme Court this month finds a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, the schools say they will have to abandon their policies that prohibit gay relationships or eventually risk losing their tax-exempt status.
The religious schools are concerned that if they continue to ban gay relationships, the Internal Revenue Service could take away their tax-exempt status as a violation of a fundamental national public policy under the reasoning of a 1983 Supreme Court decision that allowed the agency to revoke the tax-exempt status of schools that banned interracial relationships.

I think separating private schools from government money would be a good thing in the long run, which is why it won’t happen.
The NYT is creating an issue. They hope that the government will demand that Catholic Schools change their religion or be threatened with a loss of tax exempt status.
This is how the media creates the story and the tail wags the dog. Vagina Jarret is reading this and thinking, “Yes. Yes. That’s a swell idea. We could do that.”
There was never a good justification for pulling tax-exempt status based on inter-racial dating or any other religious belief. However, the Supreme Court hasn’t given a rat’s rear for freedom in many, many years.
I suspect a school that needs tax-exempt status to survive will soon cease being a school - or give up all religious pretense. I’m certain the Supreme Court is going to insist on gay marriage. I don’t think it will be long before we need to sign public oaths of acceptance to gain employment...
I'm not sure which private schools your are talking about or which government money. I am only familiar with the funding of the school in my parish and that my kids attend. We do have some state links for vouchers and such. But there is no money that we are dependant on from the federal government. If the Department of Education went poof! tomorrow, we wouldn't notice.
At what point do we say “no”?
If these “Religious Institutions” are run by Christians, they should give unto Cesar and keep faith in God.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Once SCOTUS rules in favor of deviant marriage, tax exempt status for churches will be the 1st to go. At least, for those churches that ignore the ruling. I had this conversation with our pastor: I believe that churches who stand on the Bible will lose their status, but that is to be expected, because the churches first rendered unto Caesar that which is God’s. FedGov has NO BUSINESS regulating tax status of churches. The 1st Amendment says so.
Except in the case where a private, parochial school depends on charitable donations to cover operating expenses with dwindling enrollment. To wit, the entire elementary Catholic school system. Don't underestimate the delight in the Obama White House if they managed to destroy the Catholic School system through sodomite nuptials.
I can’t imagine a gay person being to stand going to school at Liberty or Bob Jones. They are not going to hear what they want to hear.
There are laws, there are courts, and there are precedents (case law).
None guarantee a proper moral outcome. It’s what we are seeing today.
One thing has been proven beyond a doubt: Man’s laws are not God’s laws.
From what I've seen so far of Pope Che I, I don't think he will put up much of a fight.
if the state wants homosexual marriage then marriage will be a legal, not religious, institution
church marriages need to be sacramental and thus free of state interference
can the law compel a church to deliver a sacrament? communion? baptism?
and in Europe isn’t marriage done at a local registry?
the church part is optional
Courts will pretend that students can't choose to attend schools that permit "gay" housing or roommates.
Just the same as they have done to businesses who do not desire "gay marriage" customers - too bad, someone wants to do business with you, no to force you to do their will!
Tyrany!
What do we say no to? Voting for the “conservative Republican” hasn’t gotten me anywhere during the last 30 years - not since 1984!
That is why I don’t listen to Rush anymore...why bother? My supposedly conservative senator has turned into a McCain Mini-Me. My representative, who I refused to vote for, is an establishment GOP gal...to the left of Boner, probably.
And even if a law is passed, I can count on the courts to totally ignore it and substitute their own desire. So what is the point?
“Piss Christ” has gone from being exotic art to how the USA lives and believes. There can be no rule of law where there is no honor. When the men without chests reign supreme, what do you do - beside pray?
And at this point, I’m real close to praying for God to judge us as our nation deserves...and that would be ugly. I spent 25 years in the military, much of it overseas, and retired to a country that I don’t recognize.
“For instance people in society today ask things like Whats wrong with premarital sex? Why is that wrong? Who cares if I smoke pot, its not hurting anybody. Whats wrong with little white lies. Why is cheating bad? Whats wrong with looking at pornography. Whats wrong with raunchy humor? Why is homosexuality wrong? Lewis at the end of this particular lecture says what this will lead to men without chests, men without virtue, but yet we expect them to have virtue.
“We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.”

Dear Lord,
We beseach you to spare our families from Your soon to come judgment on this nation.
The Shemitah is coming.
In the early 70’s, David Wilkerson wrote in THE VISION that gay issues would be used heavily against churches and non-profits. It’s time for churches to teach the scriptural, spiritual benefits of persecution.
