Conservative religious schools all over the country forbid same-sex relationships, from dating to couples living in married-student housing, and they fear they will soon be forced to make a wrenching choice. If the Supreme Court this month finds a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, the schools say they will have to abandon their policies that prohibit gay relationships or eventually risk losing their tax-exempt status.
The religious schools are concerned that if they continue to ban gay relationships, the Internal Revenue Service could take away their tax-exempt status as a violation of a fundamental national public policy under the reasoning of a 1983 Supreme Court decision that allowed the agency to revoke the tax-exempt status of schools that banned interracial relationships.

In 2008, I started “prepping” for it.
God, in His Wisdom, and to my bafflement, removed my ability to prepare further, so I’ve turned it over to Him for “preparedness”.
They rely overwhelmingly on tax deductible donations.
Lose the tax deductions, most lose most of their funding.
Think of all the REAL ESTATE that these TAX EXEMPT churches sit upon these days! A church that will not “bow” to the homo-god will lose the tax exempt status. From that point on they must pay the real estate taxes on the property that they hold... This will be a huge tax base for both local, state and federal entities...
This “marriage equality” ruling coming down is a game changer for churches.
We’ll likely see the day when gov’t can demand churches and their schools be required to court the gays even after they’re stripped of tax exempt status.
We’ve already seen bakers and wedding photographers steamrolled and they didn’t even have tax exempt status.
Lately our pastor has had Peter's letters as the major sermon theme.
I once heard that believers need to expect persecution as a regular way of life and when we aren't facing it, is our time to rest, refresh and get ready for the next bout of persecution.
Churches and schools that wish to adhere to the Bible ought to already be planning to do away with tax-exempt status. Don’t even argue the point. They should not be in the capricious hands of a godless government to start with. Separate now and then they won’t have this weapon to use later.
We started in the catacombs, I guess we’ll soon be back there again.
It would not surprise me in the least to see the Catholic Church go underground in the next five years. The only option will be a China-like Patriotic Catholic Church, and thats no Church.
The issue isn’t the church performing the marriage as a religious ceremony. That is still not going to be forced on religious institutions in the near future. The issue is whether a religious institution can be forced to recognize gay marriage partners for the purposes of benefit packages, and be prohibited from making employment decisions based on gay employees being married.
And believe me, that is definitely on the table. In fact, it will be required within the year.
It would appear and I for one, need to catch up very quickly to prepare for such suffering!
the church part is optional
The church part is optional in the U.S. as well.
My wife and I were married in a county court house.

Oh, listen to the children while they play,
Now ain’t it kinda funny what the children say,
Skip a rope.
Daddy hates mommy, mommy hates dad,
Last night you shoulda heard the fight they had,
Gave little sister another bad dream,
She woke us all up with a terrible scream.
(CHORUS)
Cheat on your taxes, don’t be a fool,
Now what was that they said about a Golden Rule?
Never mind the rules, just play to win,
And hate your neighbour for the shade of his skin.
(CHORUS)
Stab ‘em in the back, that’s the name of the game,
And mommy and daddy are who’s to blame.
Skip a rope, skip a rope,
Just listen to your children while they play,
It’s really not very funny, what the children say,
Skip a rope, skip a rope.
