Calling it a "contemporary symbol of divisiveness and racism," eBay said Tuesday that it will ban the sale of Confederate flags and similarly themed merchandise.
"This decision is consistent with our long-standing policy that prohibits items that promote or glorify hatred, violence and racial intolerance," said eBay spokeswoman Johnna Hoff.
The e-commerce company is the latest to prohibit the sale of Confederate merchandise following Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Sears Holdings Corp.

Ebay, Etsy and Amazon have all said they will remove Confederate flag items from their websites. (Alibaba will still be selling it, though)
I'm offended by the LGBT Rainbow flag, And I DEMAND that it be removed from EBAY and all other Websites, since it promotes intolerance and hate of Christians, and it is a symbol of the suppression of free political speech.
I cancelled Amazon today. I’ll take care of eBay tomorrow.
And Nazis are allowed to have parades right here in the USA.
Yet Amazon has NO problem selling books and pictures of Che and Mao..you just watch, today its the Confederate Flag, tomorrow it will be the American Flag..I can’t imagine how July 4th is going to be, you will see left wing loons burning our flag
If anyone thinks this is a spontaneous decision by the corporate commissars, then I have a well-travelled bridge to sell them for cheap.
Still selling them and some sellers are saying to high demand shipping will be late.
Confederate flags are still listed on Ebay.
Actually, I think ebay will let you sell a nazi flag.
The Dixie Flag Company in San Antonio will keep selling them. We ordered one for each of our grandchildren, an expression of freedom of speech.
I just bought one on Ebay a few minutes ago.
I had my order cancelled by Amazon for a Bonny Blue flag. No explanation given.
Fixed it! I don't see the American flag going away, but I'd bet money the next "offensive symbol" will be the cross. After all, it has been attacked many times as it is. This Confederate flag flap will lend a sort of legitimacy to getting rid of the cross, too.
All this knee-jerk nonsense is creating a huge business opportunity for someone.
This was all started by the media , probably because they got calls from the Dems to attack SC and the battle flag.
The millions of sheep who have no idea about the battle flag or why it existed are now trying to sound all smart by repeating the crap the media and the left have put out.
The media saw this shooting in SC, they went and searched fro any photo to a battle flag. Bingo they found on and now the drones want it banned saying it is a sign of oppression whilst forgetting or ignoring what flag flew on slave ships and went out west to kill, rape, rob and displace Indians.
Do they still sell any other Democrat Party regalia?
I agree that the Confederate Flag is a negative symbol of slavery (etc., amongst other things), but if we are upset about the oppression of black people, then we should ban the Democrat Party, and not merely one of its symbols.
really sad to see America degenerate into a bunch of group-think little sissies afraid to offend.
I’m not southern, but will be sporting some stars and bars as a show of support!
Amazon still has 20+ pages of items and auctions on eBay say this;
“NEW LISTING Rebel Confederate Flag 3 x 5 ft New banner with brass grommets
DUE TO HIGH DEMAND,ALL FLAGS WILL BE SHIPPED JULY 2ND”
Wow. That was fast.
Any bets on how long it takes till a second-grader(white) is led away in handcuffs for drawing a confederate flag?
Goes to show how powerful the media are,. The country is in a frenzy over a battle flag which never flew on any Govt Confederate building or even represented slavery. It’s called a battle flag for a purpose and that was to distinguish where the southern army was from the north on the battle field.
Show the same people the stars and bars and they have no idea what it is.
