South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham will call Monday for the removal of the confederate flag from state grounds, a source familiar with the decision told CNN.
Graham, a 2016 presidential candidate, will make his announcement during a press conference with South Carolina's Republican governor, Nikki Haley, at 4 p.m. Monday.

Atrocities under the battle flag, what about the stars and stripes you probably fly right now and stand and salute on the 4th of July which flew while atrocities were happening?
Political Correctness has become the Church of the State.
American Cultural ills can be traced to the active campaign to erase the line between right and wrong.
To take it a step further, the left is actively suppressing the role of religion in the culture.
We can not turn our back on God and then wonder why evil is overtaking the culture.
manc, the US flag is our nation’s flag, which I am proud of. We may not have a perfect history but it is our nation, a nation who’s Navy I proudly served in. The Confederate flag is a historic flag, one flown by people killing loyal Americans and abused by others for their racist and bigoted ends. Please do not equate the two.
No you stated atrocities and the flag we fly today flew under atrocities. Why not ask Indians who know their ancestors killed, raped, robbed and lands stolen if they are offended.
I have no problem with either flag , but if you want one flag down while the other stands because in your words atrocities then you are picking and choosing which one you side with .
If those who want the battle flag down want to try and be holier than thou then at least be consistent with their outrage.
Why do most people who want the battle flag down not know about the flag we fly today flew on slave ships and brought slaves here for the south?
I’ll answer. Because the media and the schools want their selective outrage to be passed on.
manc, are you seriously suggesting we lower the American flag?! Have you or will you personally stop flying it?
“lots of conservatives are not from or in the south, we do not see the flag as anything but divisive, defeated, disrespectful and no different than the NAZI flag. It belongs in a museum, not as a standard for Republicans or conservatives. Politics aside, only a clueless and bigoted racist would continue to insist on flying that flag. And if you are not, do you really want to have to keep explaining that you are not?!”
Lots of Conservatives ARE from the South and have a much different view of the flag than you. I don’t believe you know me well enough to call me a clueless bigot nor do I believe you know much about Southerners. You say you’re Conservative but you appear to be ready to go to war with Conservatives and it appears most of your comments are directed at undermining the one true Conservative in the Presidential race, Senator Ted Cruz.
I’ve sure as hell stopped flying the American flag. A country that is becoming so depraved as to legally and morally regard two homos as the same equivalent as a husband-and-wife is not a country I’ll fly a flag for. Much less lift a finger for.
The American flag is flying out front of my house even as we speak.
Regarding Cruz, I'm not critical just of him, and I did support him. And critical overstates my questions. I'm concerned he is giving non answers. I am bothered by his lack of clarity on illegal aliens and on his previously stated and unretracted support of massive H1B increases. To be honest, I have problems with all of the candidates on one point or another. Isn't that the whole point of campaigns is we get to thresh these out and come up with a standard bearer? Too many here and elsewhere want lemming-like obedience and no inconvenient questions about their current favorite. An echo chamber of yes people is poor discourse, especially when rude insults are heaped on critical thinking.
Anyway, thank you for the reply and clarity.
You’re missing the point. It’s not about the flag...just like it’s not about the guns...The bigger issue is the rise of mob/poll rules. Just pick any significant event over the past several years...what’s the first thing that is said...”Polls show, blah, blah, blah”, or, “It’s time for healing and moving on”. The arguments ring hollow...a flag did not drive that young man to the evil he committed. It is just as evil when the real reasons are ignored and a “symbol” of something that has absolutely nothing to do with the root cause is targeted, because of their guilt, misunderstanding, or downright ignorance. How long until some deranged person takes a selfie with guns and a U.S. Flag in the background and goes out and does something just as heinous before the President, or other ignorant people bereft of the ability to argue on logic and reason, all in the name of healing and moving forward, call for the U.S. Flag to be lowered from the U.S. Capitol? Where does it stop? And as far as the comparison of the Confederate Flag to the Nazi Flag, really? You want to compare the atrocities of those that fought under the Nazi flag to those that fought under the Confederate flag?
He should shimmy up the pole and take it down. Hope he takes his sun dress and heels off first.
I think a girls name on a boy sounds...Queer.
WEll Lindseed wants to put up the rainbow flag. :-)
manc is right about selective outrage and those who are now outraged by the Battle Flag will never be appeased. The leftist have been and will continue to divide Americans by race, religion, gender, language, etc., that is what political correctness is about. The outrage about the Flag at this time is the left taking full advantage of a crisis and to them it’s not about a grievance but about dividing the American citizenry and destroying America the ideal. Give up the Flag and nothing will change or get better they will just find a new grievance. Political correctness is nothing more than contrived hurt feelings to be used to deflect and change the subject when they’re losing an argument.
“Youre missing the point. Its not about the flag...just like its not about the guns...”
Thank you, you said it so much better than me with a lot fewer words.
Liberals would love to do this too, they just don't have the critical mass or political support necessary to make it mainstream. Burning the stars and stripes still (rightly) offends normal Americans, so they go after easier targets, such as the Confederate Flag.
No you are missing the point.
You want the battle flag to come down because it was flying over atrocities, {your words} and yet you choose to ignore our own flag which flew over atrocities.
Either you want both to fly or both to come down under your view of atrocities.
You ignore the raping, murdering, raping of Indians , hell it was the stars and stripes which flew on slave ship not the battle flag. The battle flag never flew on Govt building in the south , it flew to distinguish both sides, hence the name battle flag.
