I am a lifelong hunter and gun owner. Until my father gave his shotgun to my oldest son at age 92, three generations of my family would hunt together. Like in so many Wisconsin families, the importance of gun safety and responsibility was a lesson I learned from my father and passed on to my children.
Four decades ago, an important gun safety law was placed on the books in Wisconsin. On March 10, 1976, Gov. Patrick Lucey signed into law a bill, passed overwhelmingly by the Legislature, mandating that a buyer wait 48 hours after passing a background check to receive a handgun he or she has purchased. At the time, Lucey said, "By denying access to this lethal weapon during fits of passion we will buy valuable time that could save untold misery and grief among citizens who are normally law-abiding and rational."
On June 9, the Legislature passed a bill repealing that waiting period. I registered my opposition to the repeal, but fully expect this unfortunate bill will become law.

I guess there should also be a waiting period to speak, to write, to publish, to worship, to assert a legal defense, to vote, etc.
He is a Democrat. None of his opinions on anything relating to the US Constitution have any relevancy.
A waiting period might make sense for a person who owns no guns (unless they need a gun for self-defense right now). But, it makes no sense for a person who already owns a guns. If we wanted to go crazy and shoot someone, we’d most likely use a gun we already own instead of driving to a gun store to buy one and make sure that the manslaughter charge gets upgraded to 1st degree murder.
Fudds like the writer will be able to hold their self-congratulatory meeting in the Prog gulag.

If you want to have fun, wait until a Prog starts talking about waiting periods for guns and then suggest that the exact same waiting period should exist for abortions.
After their initial rant about “reproductive freedom” (incidentally, the ONLY Prog-approved “freedom”), mention that almost no guns are ever purchased at a store with the intention of going out and harming a specific person, but 100% of all women who ask for an abortion intend to kill a specific person.
Oh look, another ‘lifelong hunter’ suddenly becoming an expert on self defence and criminality.
I’m sort of hoping one day all the FUDs die out so the gun prohibitionists have one less weak attempt to fight lawful gun ownership.
Actually, in a liberal's mind, Yes!
They want to be the arbiters and distributors of rights.
Who gets to say what, do what, when and where.
There is one born everyday.
Dana Wachs, your opinion on my God given rights is noted, and irrelevant.
Uh huh, oh yea, right, sure you are, no really, I believe you Mz. Wachs , no, really I do ..... (what a dork!)
His oldest son is 92?
Yeah, a waiting period following such a tragedy before these people make their knee-jerk cries for more gun control.
We need background checks on all new voters, voter ID, and a 2 year waiting period to vote for all newly registered voters.
Voting is not guaranteed by the Constitution, bearing arms is, however.
Left and Right, the same outcome at the radical ends of each-totalitarian control by a state over an oppressed people. Liberty remains and always will at odds with either proposition.
Our nation decided that government should exist to secure the people’s liberty-and that the people are free to determine exactly how that government is shaped. Alas, too many of the people have determined that they can best obtain wealth and temporary security by forming a government that provides for the “welfare” of individual citizens, rather than the “general welfare” of the nation of people.
Why do they need driver's licenses, voting rights, etc etc right away?
... and the kid’s grandad gave him a gun.
Apparently long lives run in the family...
There certainly are amendments to the Constitution that speak to voting rights.
During their riot Charlton Heston’s anti gun friends called and asked if they could borrow a gun....He told them they would need him to train them maybe three days worth ....none of them wanted to wait....
