Longtime Democratic strategist Bob Shrum said on MSNBC Friday that he “cannot imagine the horror that could’ve unfolded” if churchgoers were armed during the recent massacre in Charleston, South Carolina.
Nine people were slaughtered on Wednesday night after suspected gunman Dylann Roof allegedly opened fire in the historically black church. Only three people survived, including a grandmother who played dead and laid on top of her granddaughter to protect her.
Roof reportedly had time to reload his gun several times.
“I cannot imagine the horror that could’ve occurred if people were sitting around with concealed weapons, this thing started and you had a full-scale gunfight,” Shrum said Friday. “You might not even have three survivors.”
He went on to say that “this is going to be a big issue” in the 2016 Democratic primaries. Watch the video via MSNBC:

I believe that the security guard’s name was Jeanne Assam. She shot the attacker and he killed himself. It’s been a few years and I’m unable to recall the town name but I’m sure it was in Colorado.

I believe someone else had a gun and wouldn’t use it so she took it from the guy and took the shooter out. If I’m not thinking of another incident.
Actually he shot and killed a few girls in the parking lot before entering the church where he shot at someone and the woman Jeanne Assam shot at him. She hit him a few times and then he killed himself. So, 2 girls died there and 3 people were injured.

I carry a gun at church and head up our security team. We would have taken care of this punk.
It was another incident then. I remember a woman and a man were hiding behind a column and the man pulled out a gun but couldn’t make himself use it. So she took it and showed him how.

In our church, in shall-issue Oregon, our insurance company will pay the cost of a CHL (concealed handgun license) for Elders and Deacons. Maybe even for Ushers too.
For an insurance company, this is a pure dollars and cents decision, divorced from all ideology . Says a lot about what the real odds are if we take the emotional responses out of it.
I imagine it would be ‘horrible’ from the democrat standpoint if people were proven to have defended themselves in a high profile shooting...
