Dylann Storm Roof has confessed to entering a South Carolina church on Wednesday night and shooting dead nine people at their weekly bible study meeting, telling investigators that he wanted to 'start a race war', according to reports.
The 21-year-old admitted to Charleston police and the FBI that he was behind the massacre, law enforcement officials told CNN on Friday. He also told them that he bought the .45-caliber handgun himself; a family member had previously said the gun was a birthday gift from Roof's father.
His roommate has also revealed that Roof, who is white, had been planning the attack for six months, and had wanted to start a 'civil war' before killing himself. Another friend has revealed that Roof complained that black people are 'taking over the world' and said someone to do something about it for the sake of 'the white race'.
On Thursday, following an overnight manhunt, Roof was arrested in Shelby, North Carolina after a tip from a member of the public and he was extradited back to South Carolina last night...
He is now on suicide watch in jail, as per protocol, Charleston County Sheriff's office spokesman Major Eric Watson told ABC News. He is being housed separately from the rest of the inmates for his own safety and a bail hearing has been set for today, Watson said.
On Friday, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley told the Today show that 'we will absolutely will want him to have the death penalty'. His uncle added to ABC News that, if he does get the death penalty, he 'will push the button myself'.
'I'll be the one to push the button. If he's found guilty, I'll be the one to push the button myself,' Carson Cowles said. 'If what I am hearing is true, he needs to pay for it.'..

I read this morning that the nut had given himself the middle name “Storm,” which is apparently a common practice among Aryan Nations types.
That said, he was obviously an undiagnosed and/or untreated schizophrenic - just like Lanza and all the others, disappearing from school, living in a bedroom at his mother’s house, never going out, not working - and people like that pick up on any excuse to justify themselves and make their bizarreness seem rational to themselves. In his case, he picked up on the divisive racial rhetoric circulating around in the last few years, and this became his device for making himself feel powerful and significant.
A couple of other things all these people have in common: their physical features are almost childish and feminine or at least those of someone much younger; and while they say they want to killed themselves or go down in suicide by cop, they always attack vulnerable, defenseless targets, such as small children and their unarmed female teachers - or a group of church ladies and their minister - where there is little to no risk to them.

Had he not been a coward who shot innocent good people, he might have offered his services in Ferguson to post in front of private businesses and prevent their destruction (no I’m not saying shoot....I’m saying be an armed presence to prevent)
But he is a low life inbred, drug addled coward who executed fine people who were peaceful and God oriented. A long fair trial is too good for this slime. He should have ended it like he told his roomie. But, well, he’s a coward.
I can’t imagine there will be a death penalty if it is found that he was influenced by the anti depressants he was taking. This will be an interesting case since most of these rampage killers either off themselves or are killed by police or “bystanders” who....well...did not stand by.

Sorry, but I’m still on my soapbox. Every article says “nine people” or “nine Blacks” or “nine worshippers” or sometimes, just “nine.” The most important thing these folks had in common was that they were Christians.
I await the headline that says “Nine Christians killed!” “Christian” . . . it’s like the word that must not be spoken.
