Donald Trump, in his own words
Trump on Health Care We must have universal healthcare, Trump wrote in his book, Im a conservative on most issues but a liberal on this one. In an interview earlier this year he continued to applaud single payer health care systems used in other countries.
Trump on Taxes I would impose a one-time, 14.25% tax on individuals and trusts with a net worth over $10 million, Trump said. For individuals, net worth would be calculated minus the value of their principal residence. That would raise $5.7 trillion in new revenue, which we would use to pay off the entire national debt.
Trump on Trade Trump has called for a 20% tax for importing goods, and a Twenty-five percent tax on China, unless they behave.
Trump on Eminent Domain When asked about the 2005 case Kelo v. City of New London, that allowed economic development to be a legitimate reason for government to exercise eminent domain, Trump told Fox News (7/19/05), I happen to agree with it 100 percent. Trump was unsuccessful in his own attempt to have officials in New Jersey use eminent domain to condemn a home on property he wanted to buy for part of his hotel and casino.

So its all an anti Cruz plot?!
Wow. You got me. I admit it. I signed up on FR in 2004 on the off chance that some obscure politico in Texas would run for the Presidency in 2015. I bided my time, posting over 10,000 times, lying in wait. And then when Ted Cruz ran for President I further covered my tracks by supporting him and contributing to his campaign so when the time was right I could turn on him.
I planned it all along. All so I could help keep Ted Cruz from being in the top 10 and eligible for the debates.
(Cue Dr. Evil laugh)
BUHWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!
Why do you say he’s never filed bankruptcy? I googled Trump bankruptcy and lots of articles say he’s filed corporate bankruptcy 4 times.
Yes.
I would be equally interested in two things.
First off, I would like to see how support for Trump (and Ted Cruz by the way) relates in comparison with support by the same person previously, for Sarah Palin.
I think there will be a significant overlap. I’m thinking it will be with both candidates, actually.
More interesting still, now that Trump is in this race, I want to see who (if anyone) Sarah supports in this race.
I know she is supportive of Ted Cruz. I know she has a very good relationship with Donald Trump as well.
And I want to see whether she would be interested in being (either of their) running mate in the election.
That is what really is intereting now, to me.
Trump is far worse than Romney, but there is a silver lining; Romney got the nomination. Being the clown that he obviously is, Trump never will. ;-)
” I just am surprized nobody else is saying the things he is saying very strongly.”
Me too! It is refreshing, and it long overdue. I hope, if nothing else, Trump
“smokes out” all the GOP contenders. Makes them take solid positions on the issues he raised today.
I’ve said before, there will be no reason to follow politics are the election if its bush and pantsuit.
The great thing is hillary is SO beatable. And she will be the dem nominee.
We just need to crush jeb.
In the eyes of the law, a corporation is a separate and distinct entity from its individual owners. My understanding, however, is that Trump, personally, has never been close to insolvent.
Dana Perino was about to go nuclear on "the 5" today on Fox. She was crazy... She knows Trump is going to destroy her guy Bush.
Obama was so beatable in 2012 — until the GOPe nominated very nice, smart successful businessman, who didn’t have the heart to take the fight Obama and win the election. I don’t think that will be an issue with Trump, Cruz, Walker, or Fiorina. I don’t have the same opinion of the others in the race.
We're used to that...So he'll fit right in...
I’m still a Cruz fan and plan on voting for him... but I’ll say this... a Trump / Fiorina ticket would be the most entertaining thing to watch in the last 20 years.
Just remember Ross Perot. They all say what you want to hear; but most won’t follow through. It’s not in their own personal interest.
From the same article
“He has never filed for personal bankruptcy an important distinction when considering his ability to emerge relatively unscathed, at least financially.”
He has the ability to talk people into doing what he wants (investing, etc) so that is a plus on his side.
Too much of a loose cannon of course to be President but I can see others who would be far worse so if it came down to it, I could live with him for President. We need a strong President not some wimpy, wussy, fairy tale like we have now. We have lost so much standing in the world while China, Iran and Russia are gaining.
I am disgusted with politicians. If he is the last republican standing I would vote for him in a heartbeat. However, Still don’t know where he stands on all issues. Debates will tell.
I find it suspect that anyone would attempt to bar someone from a debate.
?Any billionaire that needs to go on a TV show for ego gratification is a very, very dangerous man. His psychological profile is very much like Bill Clinton, a pathological liar with an inferiority complex the size of many Third World countries. He will ask and demand the tough questions of others but not of himself. You watch, he will be the first dropout of the race.
If he didnt have money no one would pay attention to anything he said. He would be poor, bedraggled, in torn clothes needing a shave and still tell everyone in listening distance how he could save the world.”
I’m saving your post for later. Trump is a fighter. He’s in. And it’s going to be fun. He’s after the RINO’s.
I remember Ross Perot. I voted for him.
Ross Perot was a third-party challenger in that election.
Donald Trump in contrast, is going for the GOP spot. That is a dramatic difference this time.
Yes.
The United States Constitution, Article I, Section 8: The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;...To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations,...
The Tariff Act of 1789 was the first national source of revenue for the newly formed United States.
“he will do whatever moves him.”
Can you name a president, or king, or prime minister, or dictator who did not?
Massachusetts healthcare just admitted they'd paid out a half-billion dollars in error! And that's just one small state.
