Senior Republicans who are worried theyll be blamed for killing health insurance for millions of Americans have been busy assembling a range of options if the Supreme Court strikes down the laws subsidies in 34 states.
But the GOP senators running for president starting but not ending with firebrand Ted Cruz threaten to stymie their leaders carefully hatched plans. Any whiff that the GOPs Plan B is a continuation of Obamacare is bound to spark furious protests from the conservative base, putting pressure on the presidential hopefuls to respond. Cruz, for one, would press for a wholesale repeal of the law or to allow states to opt out of Obamacare if the high court provides the opening.
Top Republicans warn those conservatives are playing with fire.
Things cant be turned on a dime, said Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn of Texas. People can run for president, but weve actually got to solve a problem.
Its the latest example of how presidential politics continues to be the biggest wild card facing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) as he tries to work his will in a body where any one senator can upset his plans. Already, White House hopefuls have altered McConnells strategy on Iran and the PATRIOT Act. The aftermath of the King v. Burwell case could be next.
Corralling our presidentials on a plan or a solution is going to be a bit of a challenge, said John Thune of South Dakota, the No. 3 GOP leader. Everyone is going to be running away from lock, stock and barrel any connection whatsoever to the current program.

They won’t lose a thing. There is Medicaid and no emergency room in the country is allowed to turn you away.
This is liberal spin because the know the decision has come down and that the Administration has lost.
That’s what i never understood about obamacare. These things existed already. BUT making medicaid available to people who are several hundred percent above the poverty line, that’s new. and breaking the bamk.
They are never going to change. To them, the impacts of ANYTHING that might be good resulting from aborting something like ObamaCare that was literally rammed down everyones’ throats in the middle of the night have to be viewed in the context of how it affects THEIR job, their position, their future, or how difficult it will be for THEM to deal with. Not one concern about the good it can do for their constituents.
Selfish, self-interested, greedy, conniving, slimy, lying bunch of lazy, featherbedding bastards. They are only interested in their little DC Country Club.
The GOPe is going to give Obama everything he wants.
The GOP-E, always playing defense, which is why it is such a loser.
I can only pray the proper decision comes down. However, I am not hopeful after the last slam dunk was perverted.
The sickening thing is how many ‘pub’s want to find ways to keep this embarrassment of a law in place. “Please don’t blame me, I was only doing my job.” What a bunch of pansies.....
I loathe the GOP. Time to form the replacement.
The bank was broken by 1986 at the latest. Every since, it's just been money printing and borrowing from China.
There’s other crazy stuff in this medical/insurance mess....like keeping your kid on your policy till he/she’s 26?? Who thought of that one??
The GOPe is going to give Obama everything he wants
It’s not about Obama. The GOP also want socialized medicine because it gives them pots of money to manage and that’s what the big donors want.
Obamacare, Obamatrade, Cromnibus, etc. It’s quite clear the beltway GOP has no interest in Main Street anymore. We’re just cattle to be pimped out to the big donors by the Pay Me Party.
Obamacare has been on the books for over five years and this particular issue has been on the ocurt docket for nearly three years, and yet the likes of Cornyn, McConnell, and Boehner are still looking for a solution.
So your solution is to force states and private hospitals to pay for it?
Maybe the same person who saw that a lot of entry level jobs don't offer health insurance?
“...but weve actually got to solve a problem.
Yeah. Because Congress has such a GREAT track record of ‘solving problems.’

Oh, don’t get me wrong - I want 0bamacare DEAD. I just don’t see it happening. We’re far along the road to Socialized Medicine.
Letting a good crisis go to waste. An intentional crisis manufactured by the opposition.
For now, while the SCOTUS regime leaker may have let this be knownst to Øbama. BUT, remember, the "it's a tax" decision 5 years ago apparently turned in the last weeks prior to its June release, with you-know-who changing his mind.
I’m saying that Obamacare wasn’t necessary. We’ve always taken care of our poor.
