HONOLULU (AP) - Two men say they chained themselves to the Queen Liliuokalani statue at the capitol to protest subtle racism against Native Hawaiians that started with the annexation of Hawaii in 1893.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports 28-year-old Kaipo Hanakahi and 23-year-old Kainoa Keana'aina wore loincloths and spoke to each other in Hawaiian Wednesday as passersby took photos.

Slap a set of handcuffs on them and leave them there for a month.

Every body is looking for “their moment” to make a story out of nothing at all...Problem is media thinks this is news.
Let’s go taunt them with a can of spam.
Hypocrites. Hawaiians discriminate against normal people. Go eat some poi and shut up.
Yep I’ve heard that white students are targeted in many schools in Hawaii, as whites are a minority group there.
Funny, I just got back from a week in Hawaii 2 days ago.
The Hawaiians definitely have a case that the US ripped off Hawaii in quite the arrogant and brazen fashion, if you care to investigate the history.
It’s not like we machine-gunned hundreds or thousands of them, but we did, definitely, swipe the place and subjugated an entire culture that was doing pretty well. Not to sound like a leftist or anything.
What could possibly be done with or about it at this point, I have no particular suggestion.

Yes. They all moved to California, where they replace the Native-Americans, many of whom disappeared under difficult Spanish rule.
Hmmmm..... is there no Hawaiian reservation?
How are the natives there different from say the Navajo or the Apache?
You don’t sound like a leftist. Hawaii never should’ve been annexed by the US. I’m all for the US breaking up if a state wants to get out of the DC noose. If Hawaii has a valid reason to reclaim sovereignty, good for them!
Book ‘em, Dan-o!
If some fools chained themselves to a statue, my vote is put up a screen so they don’t annoy the tourists, and then leave them there.

How about this idea: We encourage illegal aliens from all over to travel to D.C. to chain themselves to the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
Maybe then Congress will realize what a mess this illegal immigration invasion really is.
Can you imagine what a fantastic sight it would be to see thousands of illegal aliens chained to the Capitol as we watched Congressional members and workers carefully step over them in order to go home every night.
Today it is obvious we are soft, effete sick and dying.
Exactly!
Leave them there.
My first ancestor in the U.S. came here in 1690, He was a Huguenot. Having suffered religious persecution in France, he fled to England and fought against France, in their many wars with England. As a reward for his service, the King gave him a land grant in Virginia.
I’m trying my best to figure out just who owes me reparations.
Perhaps I should be thankful that France persecuted non Catholics and thankful for the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, otherwise, I’d be typing in French right now.
Declaration of the Republic of Hawaii?.......................

There should be a law that once they do this, mobody is allowed to unchain them while they are still alive.
