How to escape the age of mass delusion
The Federalist ^ | 6-8-15 | Stella morabito

One of the best books that cracks the code on what we are living through was written by Dutch psychiatrist Joost A. M. Meerloo about 60 years ago. Mull over the first line of his book’s forward, and you will think he is writing about today: “This book attempts to depict the strange transformation of the free human mind into an automatically responding machine – a transformation which can be brought about by some of the cultural undercurrents in our present-day society as well as by deliberate experiments in the service of a political ideology.”

That’s from “The Rape of the Mind: The Psychology of Thought Control, Menticide, and Brainwashing” (1956). There is indeed a war on the private mind, as Kevin Williamson explained in a recent National Review column. Unfortunately, too many Americans have been sleeping through most of its propaganda battles, and for a very long time. When it comes to understanding the inner workings of social psychology and political correctness, we seem to be at a loss.

Meanwhile, the power elites who now control the media, academia, and Hollywood seem to understand social psychology well enough to exploit it on a massive scale. They have engaged in psychological warfare against the private mind by inducing “collective belief formation.” There’s really nothing new here. Conditioning and nudging the masses into groupthink is a very old trick of all wannabe dictators. The bloody twentieth century is filled to the gills with examples.

The only thing any cognizant human being really owns is their own actions. The only thing any cognizant human being really controls, is how their individual self reacts to things, the actions the individual self choses to take. All other things are outside of any indivdual's control.

I'm not responsible for what other people think. I am ONLY responsible for what I do.

There are those who deny ownership of their actions -- Baltimore comes to mind. And there are those who react so predictably to what others do, that what others do appears to control them, such as the MSM "controlling" people into mass delusions. But the reality is that each cognizant individual born has ONE possession that only the individual owns: the self, and how that self responds to what happens to it is the ONE, the ONLY, thing any individual really owns or controls.

Bottom line: whether on reads only the headlines and the first few paragraphs, or whether one reads the whole story every time -- if one is solely accepting the media narrative (which is usually easy to surmise from the headline and first few paragraphs) and choses to bypass engaging any critical appraisal of the information presented, then one is allowing themselves to be deluded.

And NO ONE is forcing them. It is all entirely by choice.

Quote:
I usually stay on top of what's happening in the world by reading headlines and if they catch my eye, reading the first couple of paragraphs, sometimes the whole story, and pretty quickly get the gist, so I'm informed, and also with headline news at the hour and the half on radio.

Like that Waco biker shootout -- pretty obvious and easy to figure out what happened there, where a bunch of bad-ass bikers were gathered at some "breastaurant" in Texas and got in a gun fight, the cops showed up, and nine bikers ended up dead, another 18 wounded, and about 170 arrested and tossed in jail. Good riddance to bad rubbish and hooray for the cops! That story made me chuckle, because I have a lot of Harley friends who don't have much good to say about dumb-ass bikers of the type that shoot up restaurants in Texas.

And it was the delusion I allowed myself to maintain for TWO WEEKS, until I did some homework and saw a delusion shattered.

Some aspect of the psychology of mass delusion must operate at least on some level with the understanding that people are very apt to think, as I did in this particular case, that they can just read the headlines and the lead paragraphs and have a pretty good idea of what's going on.

The reality is that just reading the headlines and the lead paragraphs, leads one right into the corral of mass delusions. Thanks to the Waco charade, I know better now and will ALWAYS understand that if I really want to know what's going on in a story that catches my eye, I have to treat the story as a mere starting point and take responsibility for doing my own homework. People who rely on the MSM to do it, are going to be led down the garden path to mass delusionville.

Very well said!

Wrong. The state only pretends to own its subjects, and it does it by force -- it MUST do it by force -- precisely because it CANNOT own what only an individual owns, which is how the individual choses to react to whatever happens to that individual. The individual can either choose to give in -- perhaps because he/she doesn't want loved ones killed or material possessions seized -- or the individual can choose to go down fighting. Regardless, the ONLY thing an individual owns is self-will, and the fact that is the ONE thing the government cannot take even by force, proves it.

A state can put a freedom-loving patriot in prison, steal all his possessions, kill his family, and take away his dignity.

But no matter how hard it tries, the state CANNOT turn that person into a willing slave. That fact is the BANE of Communism. It's why Communism cannot tolerate religion, Christianity in particular. Christianity TEACHES the difference between ownership of material goods, and the ownership of self.

Are you a communist?

You run your mouth pretty wreckless for a man that don't go heeled.

We each have freedom of choice and many options. For nearly all of us, there are ways to get through or around every kind of problem.

Turn off the television, and be more thorough in reading the propaganda. Analyze every word and the motives behind the propaganda from both political parties and other thieving interests.

Although many men of several ancient idolatries have imagined many fictitious ghosts and false metaphors in their minds and led many others astray with them, there is only One G-d. All else is physical in the natural ways and interactions of our universe. There are no ghosts or other deities.

Look at the natural things and real, physical interactions around you. See how they really work. That’s a key to becoming free.

There are only our souls, but we cannot talk to them (nor they to us) apart from when they control bodies (no ghosts for us). And sometime after we die, our souls will get new bodies.

Study very closely what is real, and see what we can do with it. Avoid buying anything that we don’t really need. Happiness is an attitude. Frequently study and practice becoming more self-sufficient. Learn to manufacture something of necessity or good use. Be nonpolitical, and do what is natural and healthy.

Reject the very concept of self-esteem, and do well. If you have no respect for the concept of self-esteem, no one can weld your hook to the bottom. Anyone who tries to do that is only indulging in his or her own problem. There is no self-esteem. There are only you and the things around you, with you having new options and possibilities for a new start today.

We are what we really try to do, each in our own circumstances. Try to do better today than yesterday.

Pass it around.

In some respects everyone is a PREACHER.. preaching loudly by what they “DO”.. and don’t “DO”..

What kids are watching.. more than whats said.. much more..
All agenda’s are being WATCHED..... by “someone”..
and learning “lessons”..

I read Packard too. He had a whole slew of good books about what things really are about. How people are manipulated. Still use that information today.

Reading Libido Dominandi——goes into Mind Control-—and Bernays who was used to get us into WWI.....with propaganda which worked really well and was put into advertisements for business and to control the mass perceptions. They knew by 1920 how to control the passions to direct the emotions (and eliminate Reason). They have been controlling the newspapers (all information) until the internet). They demonized those who tried to point out the Truth-—like McCarthy-—and the media destroyed them completely-—or they killed them like a JFK if they went off their reservation..

Perceptions are all they have to control us with——not the Truth. They want us “happy slaves” if they can enslave us by our permission—like they have done for 40 years or more——

We allow our children to be programmed by their highly subversive TV programs and movies.....it will create dumb “happy slaves”...

Brains will not be integrated and Wisdom and Knowledge nonresistant and no Real Life experiences where human interaction teaches control of emotions and maturity by modeling behaviors after mature adults (parents). We remove our children now -—like they want—and put them in these group factories (which condtions them to be dependent and group “thinkers” only. We are creating children who will be dependent on whatever pop culture feeds them-—they are dumb as stumps and immoral—no idea what is Good and Evil. If it feels good-—and culture says it is good-—it is -—like two males sodmizing each other. No Reason, No Common Sense allowed in the Brave New World where Slavery is Freedom and Vice is Virtue.

We are almost there. If homosexual “marriage” is forced on our children-—they will have NO understanding of Natural law Theory-—that which created the Age of Reason and the US Constitution. They will be like all the tribal kids, serfs, peasants-—incapable of using Reason and reaching any Truth/God.
