An aggressive push for what's being billed as "debt-free college" has galvanized progressive activists, putting Hillary Clinton in the position of either endorsing an idea that will be controversial or being criticized by liberals as too timid if she does not.
The proposal, which is also energizing Democrats on Capitol Hill, attempts to enshrine a promise that all Americans can attend a public college and get a four-year degree with little tuition cost and while incurring no student debt.
One of Clinton's Democratic rivals, ex-Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, has endorsed the idea.
Another Democratic candidate, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, has already authored a provision in Congress that would eliminate tuition costs at public colleges, although it falls short of the debt-free proposal.

because college has done wonders for this generation. she will win if she pushes this. and I’ve had it. there are not enough white men over 34 to beat back the freaks and losers and moochers and illegals and crazy white women and the young and the dreamers and the blacks and the fruits.
forgive me, I just get beaten down by the greedy selfish stupid people of this country.
i’ll be back to cheering Cruz after my pity fest.
[Hillary should dress in a red pants suit, trimmed in white and drive a sleigh pulled by 12 rein deer.
Hillary Clause is coming to Town.]
And a hammer and sickle lapel pin.
I fear you are correct.
Debt free for the taxpayers?
Why don’t O’Malley or Sanders try this in their own states first? Once again we see liberals have to do everything on a grand national scale.
Maybe that used to be true. The bars are really low now for entrance qualifications, and some of the courses/degrees they offer are ridiculous.
She will sign-on to free College tuition. She wants the college student vote in 2016. She’ll do anything to occupy the White House.
When the going gets rough, what this country needs is a New Entitlement!
No, no, no. This is more Free like Healthcare, not Free like Beer. Those Marxists will have piles of opm (other people’s money) to swill.
States can't print money.
I think colleges are desperate now, since young Americans look at what happened in the tech field and see it spreading elsewhere (healthcare, finance, etc.); why invest the time & money in a four-year degree if employers simply pay the federal government to traffick foreigners to take those jobs anyway? Going into debt to do it is even sillier.
Nothing is “free”
That means taxpayers will pay for it (thru government)
