Fox News’ Megyn Kelly finally aired her big, much-anticipated interview with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, in which they opened up about their son Josh Duggar‘s public confession that he molested several young girls, including his own sisters, when he was a teenager.
The first time it happened, they explained, was when their son came to them, crying and saying he had touched his young sisters when they were asleep. Michelle Duggar said, “We had one ray of hope in that Josh had a tender conscience.”
There were more instances afterwards, Jim Bob Duggar said, in which their son had inappropriately touched his sisters over their clothes and “a couple of instances where he touched them under their clothes, but it was like a few seconds.” And, as he noted, his son’s victims didn’t seem to understand what had happened to them until it was subsequently explained to them.
They got very emotional as they spoke to Duggar about how they felt they failed as parents and how they came to the decision to send their son Josh to get therapy. Later on, Kelly brought up 19 Kids and Counting––which has been pulled but not cancelled by TLC––and asked, “What would make you launch a reality TV show about your family, given this past?” Jim Bob Duggar said they weren’t worried because the records were sealed and they had dealt with all this years ago.

These people have given me the creeps since the first time I ever heard of them. 19 kids? Really? Its bizarre. No wonder some of them are effed up. How much attention can you even get from your parents when you are just numero 8 or 9 or worse 18. Who in their right mind would have 19 kids? Oh wait, weirdos, screw jobs or people who want a spotlight and a TV show.
I want one woman Freeper to comment that their dream in life to was to give birth 19 times. :-)_
Well I’m not so sure I would call their program wholesome ‘Christian’ Programming with the structured life they appeared to have....but apparently some were attracted to that lifestyle. You gotta admit that 20 kids is a tad over the top. ...which is why they were asked about having doing a show. Not so much because they were Christian.
At any rate I understand people being upset over this whole affair...I might not agree with their take but I do understand where they’re coming from.
As for being a light EVERYWERE as you stated.....then we should all be hanging out in bars as well..yes? or how about strip joints?
I don’t think any here are saying this situation isn’t forgivable...rather the foolishness of some of the decisions made that enabled it to begin with.
During the entire interview she just looked up at her husbands, hung on his EVERY word it just gave me the creeps, almost in a worshiping way!!!!! VERY creepy family!!!!!
If you know anything about boys, you would know that perversion is their natural default position. Hell, men as a species are pigs. Why do you think pornography is a more profitable business than Hollywood movies?

Not to burst your closeted white bread exurban bubble, but one of the most common forms of sexual assault is sibling on sibling. Many include forcible rape, including rape of prepubescent children of both sexes.
Except for the most egregious cases the offender is released no later than his 21 birthday, normally released within months of conviction, if they are tried at all.
Regardless, all the records are sealed and are never supposed to be released in any event. Not even in the event of a future conviction for a sexual offense as an adult.
In the cases of ‘touching’ that type of offense is NEVER prosecuted. EVER. Nor should they be as prosecution is an over reaction to what is a transient episode in a vast majority of cases. In these cases the offender is turned over to DCFS and in almost all cases those result in little more than family counseling
Based upon the reaction of people like you, do you think parents would be more or less likely to ever go to the authorities when something like this happens?

I think it’s all been overblown...as the media and liberals do on everything they can find to grind away at. Heck I remember my brother and I investigating body parts when we were kids, though we had no idea what we were doing .....we were both giggling like crazy until my sister walked in and “corrected” the situation.... Even after she drilled us we still didn’t know what the deal was about and certainly didn’t understand.
At 14 the kid knew...did the right thing by telling his parents....it went down hill via the parents after that IMO.

I thought of that too...but I think I read the woman in this group don’t cut their hair short....the family truly has some bizarre requirements they follow but then I suppose they think it’s righteous living style in their minds.

First of all the son would have been out the door.Touching a 5 year old sister and the others would have crossed the line for me.The Duggar’s didn’t report this to the police Oprah did.She taped a show with them but got a text that the girls had been molested.One of the girls wrote everything down and put it in a book-in a letter.Sure doesn’t sound like she was over it.The book was lent out and someone read the letter and sent the text to Oprah.They called the cops.A pedophile cop did the report but when the police wanted to investigate the Father got lawyers and the statue of limitations ran out.The show Oprah did never aired.They knew all this and still put their children on TV.Shame on them.

But I’ll say this. Perversion-—i.e., baby-groping and sister-fondling-—is not the natural default of men. You seem to have those deviances unhealthily confused with the normal male attraction to women. Or at least, females who are not babies and not family members.

You are right. The police report released today says that Josh molested “blank” as she sat on his lap. He supposedly was reading her a storybook, and put his hand right up her skirt and fondled her.
This is so reprehensible to me. If I were the mother, the filthy oaf would have been hit over the head with the family-size Griswold cast iron frying pan!
The wimp of a father did NOTHING but take his son over to a close friend of his, a policeman, for a good “talking-to.”
That policeman is now doing serious time for having hundreds of child porn pictures on his computer!
Why would JimBob have a friend like that?

What is all this stuff going on with these odd people who got themselves on Megyn Kelly’s show tonite? It Seems to have something to do with some severe dysfunction involving sexual abuse of kids and an at least second deviation perverse religious complex to go with it.
