Jim Bob, Michelle Duggar Open Up to Megyn Kelly About Their Son Josh Molesting His Sisters

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly finally aired her big, much-anticipated interview with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, in which they opened up about their son Josh Duggar‘s public confession that he molested several young girls, including his own sisters, when he was a teenager.

The first time it happened, they explained, was when their son came to them, crying and saying he had touched his young sisters when they were asleep. Michelle Duggar said, “We had one ray of hope in that Josh had a tender conscience.”

There were more instances afterwards, Jim Bob Duggar said, in which their son had inappropriately touched his sisters over their clothes and “a couple of instances where he touched them under their clothes, but it was like a few seconds.” And, as he noted, his son’s victims didn’t seem to understand what had happened to them until it was subsequently explained to them.

They got very emotional as they spoke to Duggar about how they felt they failed as parents and how they came to the decision to send their son Josh to get therapy. Later on, Kelly brought up 19 Kids and Counting––which has been pulled but not cancelled by TLC––and asked, “What would make you launch a reality TV show about your family, given this past?” Jim Bob Duggar said they weren’t worried because the records were sealed and they had dealt with all this years ago.

“They also forbid hand-holding.

That’s normal to you?”

No, I think Kim Kardashian letting a man take a piss on her during one of her many sexcapades and videotape it is normal.

Read the post that I wrote about a friend of mine, whose daughter was being molested and how no one believed her until she turned the story around and blamed her father and the counselor that her parents hired. No one wants to believe that something is going on. It is easier to deny it, or deny the seriousness of the actions.

Isn’t that what the media and everyone did with Lena Dunham’s admission of child molestation, trivialized it? Tell me, what is the difference? Why does Dunham still have a TV show?

What? So reality TV stars should reveal the sins/mistakes of their UNDERAGE, MINOR CHILDREN?

Even politicians kids are protected. We don’t even require that of the kids of the President! (And rightfully so )

So we should hold reality TV stars to a higher standard than the Leaders of our country??

I can’t believe ANYONE believes that.

No wonder this nation is in the condition it’s in.

And no one should be told they have to tell the sins of their kids in order to be vocal politically. God forbid. But that’s a good way to make people NOT involved politically. And that’s sooooooo wrong.

If you say Lena Dunham you lose the argument. Lena Dunham has nothing to do with this and using her as the “worse than them” argument is specious.

The Duggars are liars and phonies. They lied and tried to cover it up and now are trying to hide behind grace and forgiveness. But even that is phony. When the “Josh was so young” argument didn’t hold they pulled out the “no one should have known anyway” argument.

The changing of the subject to the release of the police report is classic Arkansas politics and positively Clintonian.

I don’t argue with ATI people. I never meet them anymore. On purpose. If i did some how meet the ATI bunch i would bless their heart and move on. However this is a nice informative forum and I will be informative. That is what we do here.

not sure what you want me to do here. I just put out the info. You seem to be judging this a heart issue. Emphasis on judging. That is your background and advanced training coming through. If you want me to be silenced you are out of luck.

Who is bearing false witness? I mean besides the people on here intent on destroying a Christian family?

And defending what is right is not the same as idolizing someone.

Calm down.

No, if you don’t bother criticizing Lena Dunham, you have no right to sit in judgement of the Duggars. You lose the argument before you begin.

Lena Dunham is a pig, and she still has her own TV show. I am not trying to defend the Duggars, I am pointing out the hypocrisy of the hordes of attackers. My daughter used to watch the Duggar’s TV show sometimes and my husband and I had a fit. They are weird people, no doubt, but they don’t deserve the organized attack by the media and anti-Christian bigots.

OK. Lena Dunham is a sick and twisted individual. Better? Doesn’t change my point.

The good Lord said that you cannot server God and money. The Duggars chased after the money, had too many damn children to effectively manage the situation, raised a pervert and now I am supposed to give them a pass because they are “Christian”? Nope.

They are a case study in how not to raise children.

It’s always funny to me...to see Christians complaining about the filth on tv and how there needs to be more wholesome programming....Christians are too underrepresented....

Well, if Christians are going to attempt to let their light shine EVERYWHERE, even TV, then people have to realize they’ll bring their (hopefully repented/forgiven) sin with them. Because there is no perfect Christian or Christian family. That includes many on this thread.

The actions of one of their horde had nothing to do with the TV show. They would have kept having all those children whether or not they were on TV.

The fact that they reported the actions of a minor child to the police, who did nothing, further served to exempt them and absolve them from criticism in their own minds. They thought that they handled it. They got the kid out of the house and sent him to one of those tough love work camps for incorrigible children, a kind of private reformatory.

I don’t care that they took the Duggars off the air. It was a horrible show, but then I hate all reality TV. I think that Funham should be off the air, too, if people are going to make so much of the Duggar revelations.

Agreed. The show being gone is the only positive thing that has happened. The best thing for everyone involved is to get them out of the limelight and let the children heal. I think them trotting out to Fox News was a poor choice and only serves to prolong the issue. They should just go away and stop trying to justify themselves.

"Who is bearing false witness? "

You are. Maybe I should have been more clear.

Labeling everyone who isn't a Duggar fan as "unChristian" is bearing false witness.

"I mean besides the people on here intent on destroying a Christian family?"

Looks to me like they're destroying themselves.

"And defending what is right is not the same as idolizing someone."

Sexual perversion isn't right, nor is cult membership, so why defend either?

"Calm down."

I'm not the one yelling about people spewing "vile".

I understand their feelings their children the victims of an illegal smear by the ant-Christian left wingers. It wasn’t so much their son that they were protecting as the rest of the family. Those poor girls who were the victims have now become the targets.

The Duggars hold themselves up as Christian standard bearers so they bought the scrutiny on themselves. That's what happens to Christians who put themselves in the secular media spotlight.

Yes, yes. Andrea Yates came to mind immediately as I watched Megyn’s interview.

What a totally freaky couiple. He’s a Svengali and she is, well, just pathetic.

That they believed the son with raging hormones only touched his sisters for “a few seconds” is ludicrous.

I’m sure they have the highest-paid Christian “branding” outfit now trying to restore their “image”, and their million dollar gig on that idiot channel.

That’s the only reason they consented to the FOX interview.
