Last weekend was Memorial Weekend, honoring our fallen soldiers who lost their lives defending our country and our flag. Last weekend a US Forest Ranger came through our campground at Devils Elbow, which is Idaho Panhandle National Forest Land. He told our camp host, Butch & Sharon, they had to take down their US Flag. He refused. I don't know the outcome of his refusal, their is a chance he will loose his job. But he states he will not take down his flag. We also do not know if this ranger was acting on his own, or if this is a decision made by the US Forest Rangers. But whatever, this should NEVER be an issue in the United States of America.
The US Forest Rangers are paid by us, with us tax dollars. Butch and Sharon have every right to fly an American Flag. I am so thankful he did not take it down. They are Heroes in my book. He asked us to wait a week to make this known, so his bosses could contact US Forest Service. So I waited. This was why we painted our faces - a protest. We put flags all around our site. I want to say here it was not American Land & Leisure his bosses, but the US Forest Service. Please pray Butch & Sharon do not loose their jobs.

I certainly do remember that. Forest Rangers were physically ejecting veterans in wheelchairs.

And am I wrong in remembering that the US Forestry Service also has AR-15’s, military grade weapons, ammo and SWAT Teams like the Treasury Department, IRS, BATF?

I agree. I’ve camped all over and hung flags and never seen anything like this. I would contact local media if this is indeed happening.
I can see the Forest Service people not wanting people to display flags from the tops of trees, because if that got started, you would have all kinds of idiots flying all kinds of crap from the tops of trees. But even in the linked story,
“Like last summer, the Forest Service won’t be sending anyone to get the flag and take it down.
“It’s just too dangerous for our tree climbers,” Kirchner said. “It’s not worth the risk.”
Sorry for the confusion. No the Camp Host may loose his job. He did not know yet Monday Morning when I left the camp.

I’m sorry, but it really happened. This last weekend. You can choose to believe it or not. Not post on here in a long long time. The one on the tree was not in our campground. The one in our campground was on a post. If I had a web page I would show you the pictures, but I don’t. I only have facebook.
I understood it was the camp host.....and if anyone knows the rules of their particular campground, it will be the camp host.
I don’t think the camp host was displaying his flag wrongly.
I believe it happened. I just think there is more to it that either you don’t know, or didn’t say. No suggesting anything malicious, but it is so different than anything I’ve personally experienced in any of the dozens of national parks and BLM camping that I’ve done in my life.

Grandma, I don’t think Vermont was doubting you.......
...just incredulous a ranger would make this kind of call.
We too have stayed in campgrounds all over the country.....and no one is more proud of their flag than Americans.
BUT we live in interesting times.....and we have a leader who does not love our flag......just saying.

Forest Service goons... the only thing they’re good for is letting “controlled” burns get away from them.
