In an exclusive interview with Campus Reform, the former active-duty Marine who served two combat tours in Iraq said his suspension came after he requested to meet with a different counselor in the schools Office of Counseling and Disability Services. Rawls, who is diagnosed with combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), was originally paired with a female counselor who wore traditional Muslim dress during his initial visit to the office.

According to Rawls, his attempts to meet with staff members to discuss the schools policy about changing counselors were repeatedly ignored and it wasnt until a recent meeting with administrators that he was able to speak with staff.
Their response was suspending me pending a mental evaluation which I provided and then they put me on further restriction and a reintegration program, Rawls said.

You are not permitted to be on campus for any reason or attend class during the duration of the Interim Suspension unless you have written permission, states an email sent to Rawls on Feb. 26 and later obtained by Campus Reform.

On March 16, Rawls was notified of his permission to reintegrate back into academics after fulfilling the schools request for an independent mental evaluation.
At this time, you are only allowed integration back into academics, meaning: attending class, lectures, or any other academic related matter that is pertinent to a class or graded assignment, Ambrose wrote in a second email to the student veteran.
In addition to a provision restricting Rawls from attending on-campus events or participating in student organizations, the schools Integration Action Plan required that he show ability to handle [his] academic course load and demonstrate regular attendance in mental health therapy at a licensed therapist of his choice.

Of imagine a 23 year old rape victim being forced to have a male twice her age as a counselor. Say she went in and simply said she didn’t feel like she could work with him.
Can you imagine how fast the school would give her a new counselor?
It would be nice if he could sue that school under Ada and a fear of Muslims.
Yeah, get your mind right soldier!!! /s
God what a stink-hole this nation is devolving to.
I wouldn’t expect that from a Baptist university. They have typically been less likely to act this way than Catholic or State universities. Guess they are being co-opted too.
Sad.
I sent this email below to: may@mc.edu which appears to be the contact for administrative issues.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I have read with dismay your treatment of Jeremy Rawls, a veteran who has served our country and is attending your institution.
I am told he was a veteran of two tours of combat duty in the Middle East, and after he was assigned to a muslim woman who was non-secular enough to wear a hijab, he requested for a non-muslim counselor. Given his situation, I would expect he would be treated with a degree of understanding and respect.
However, I read that not only did you did not honor his request, but instead made him the focus of the issue and restricted his access to the campus and to classes.
You apparently chose the pursuit of diversity and the feelings of a counselor over the mental well-being of one of our veterans which is bad enough, but is even worse considering that mental health professionals should understand the harmful potential of approaching an issue like this in this fashion. The patient/person should come FIRST.
If what I have read is true, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You should reinstate this student, and provide him with the help he needs to aid his full re-integration into society. I hope to hear going forward, that you do just that.
We OWE this, and more, to men like this. We may disagree with the use of military force and how it is used, but there should be NO disagreement whatsoever that we as Americans OWE our veterans better treatment than this man has encountered at your institution.
I suggest that we spread this contact info around so we can let them know how much we disagree with the treatment of this veteran.
Absolutely right, ClearCase.
Obviously, veterans don’t deserve the protection of “triggers”.
That privilege is reserved for trust-funded emo-hipster Millenials.
He should accuse the college of “microaggression”.
Never mind I think is is quite possibly the STUPIDEST theory I have heard in my life, I just enjoy it more when you can reflect their own stupidity back at them.
It is damn sad that all many Vets are experiments. I was told by my private MD to get away from the VA.
Their website reads, “Mississippi College, A Christian University.”
There appears to be nothing Christian about the way they apparently treated this vet. Also, how come a Christian university hires a Muslim to council students, nearly are of whom presumably are Christians? Even if the hiring would be justified, assigning a vet with his background to a Muslim is nothing short of outrageous besides being completely idiotic.
as I remember among those communist goals was something hinted at in yout tagline..
make noise...call it music...promote same....
or something to that effect
I don’t agree that a private university has a duty to re-integrate a PTSD into society.
By today’s college language, the counselor they sent him to was a ‘microagression’ that violated his ‘safe space’. It would be hypocritical of me to attack the minorities and feminists that complain of such and defend a grown man who is so fragile.
His situation would better be discussed in the context of VA staffing and funding.
Baptists? You’re kidding me?
The city council in M Boro approved a huge Muslim center there and the locals have been upset for several years.
Ah, the Muslim conquest of west TN is going according to schedule.
Alinsky said it: “make the enemy live up to its own book of rules”.

Dear Sir,
We encourage you to enroll in our college immediately.
We'll get y'alls mind right, we guaran-damn-tee it.
Yours,
Mississippi Reeducation Camp.
I think it is our duty to make each and every muzzie who doesn’t want to assimilate to be as as uncomfortable as possible. They call my dogs filthy, I call them smelly bitches....should have seen the faces for that one. You are not wanted here should be communicated in in non traceable but unmistakable ways.
