Ping.
Historians are notoriously bad at predicting the future. In fact, they are not even all that good at predicting the past.
Tower of Babel, anyone?
Still waiting for my flying car and roboservant.
> I think it is likely in the next 200 years or so homo sapiens will upgrade themselves into some idea of a divine being...

And resistance will be...Futile.
And how do we know we aren’t the result of programming by some earlier entity?
Things futurists didn't predict: The internet. Cell phones. Gays becoming a dominant class. The continual rise of Islam.
I take this articles prediction with the above-noted grains of salt.
Uh-huh. It’s tough to replace the soul with machine parts.
Could this explain *Crinton's numerous concubines?
When everyone is super, nobody is!
Power, immortality, knowledge and no wisdom.
What could possibly go wrong?
Somebody has been watching to many movies. People need too learn that movies are nothing but make believe.
Humans will have to upgrade themselves if they don’t want the robots to take over the earth.
Define “God-like”.
God creates the Universe and is outside of it and the cause-effect continuum. Is that what he means? So integrating microprocessors in the human body is going to make each person a creator of the Universe and set him outside of the cause-effect continuum?
That’s what he says but not what he means. He means that by connecting computers to brains there will no longer be a need for God.
Then how come today's humans seem so much closer to chimps than those fifty years ago? :)
I'm guessing that technology will not be enough to prevent the chimps from eventually killing and eating the cyborgs. The Fall of Rome again, but from a much higher height this time. Look at today's bad example - cyborg-like elites creating ISIS to spite their rivals and make money, but almost immediately losing control of their chimps. Cyborgs will always think themselves too smart to fail...and this will inevitably make them fail.
I think the Historian needs to lay off playing the Deus Ex video games, or stop watching Ghost in the Shell anime, or whatever his entertainment obsession is.
