“All of this ought to make you ask why inner-city neighborhoods survive.”
The generous use of our tax dollars to keep that ‘sector’ contained and voting for Democrats.
Plain and simple.
Hitting blacks hard. It’s hitting whites hard, too. Why is it always just the blacks who get attention. Many whites are suffering just as much if not more in Obama’s
economy. Hours cut, jobs lost, foreigners hired rather than citizens.
“Why is it always just the blacks who get attention.”
Because nothing white, other than as it involves hurting blacks, is news.
Wonder if they are including the down sized Military in those numbers?
My thot too
yeah, government is shrinking....I believe that NY Times.....I mean, if it’s in the NY Tines, it must be true, right?

The Left has a huge (unacknowledged) problem: as more and more govt clerical jobs are automated or privatized, there is less need for public sector employees. The state of Illinois will actually lead on this issue (eventually) because it has to— their state supreme court last week refused to permit restructuring their public sector pension obligations. That’s a $110B nut, and now all they can do is raise taxes and cut services (their debt is already junk status).
We’ll see how excited the Democrats are about big government when it’s services are automated, run by systems administrators, and quantified results of various programs are obtained with the click of a mouse. Oh, and computers don’t take vacations, need health insurance, or... vote.
Republicans should be embracing the shift. But they’re stuck in some kind early 1960s fog. They can state their principles quite nicely, but they lack the ability to formulate policy alternatives.
That’s ok, they’ll make almost as much with all the $15 minimum wage jobs in Los Angeles and Seattle.
Oh look. The old trope about the NYT ("Women, children, minorities hardest hit") isn't a myth. They print this line with regularity.
It's also a very nice diversion. Blacks who lost public sector jobs can't get private sector jobs? That's because they're taken by hispanics and other invaders. Wouldn't it be better to just send home the invaders?
What's racist is assuming that blacks can only do private sector jobs. That assertion comes with an assumption that blacks are not as capable or ambitious as it takes to survive in the private sector.
Good point. The New York Times isn’t even in the same hemisphere as the truth.
When cars are programmed to punctiliously observe all traffic laws, a main source of revenue for most local police forces will evaporate.
This will also be a blow to two of the largest pro-socialist businesses in the US: Geico (owned by Warren Buffett) and Progressive.
So, now, any attempt to slow down, stop, or reverse the size of government is racist?
Then I am a proud racist.
It is insanity to believe government and the left will permit the revenue to stop.
Expect a quota of traffic violations to be built in to the software, in order to automatically cite and collect on the 'lawbreaking' owners. To appease Buffett and Geico/Progressive, autodriving cars will be randomly selected to cause accidents, some fatal.
But government revenues are up, not down.
“Think of how hard governments will fight against self-driving cars.”
I hadn’t thought of that. But both my elderly parents gave up their driver’s licenses. Without family they’d also have to give up their home and move years early to a more expensive location. I was thinking what would happen to us kids who will not have any close family in our declining years. Very scary. Perhaps self driving cars are the answer.
It argues that if government jobs grew as fast as the population, there would be 1.8mm more new government jobs.
The article wants us to forget that there have been some slight technological advances since 1992.
Notice how slimy the rhetoric is. They start with statistics. But by the time they get to racism they have replaced actual facts with “many say” or “some think” (both of these require two people to agree, the writer and one other), then they source it with a quote from a single guy who runs the union and gets paid on dues. This appears to be well researched. But its just a union enrollment piece.
If they have (much more than a) 70+ year tradition of lying for communism, what makes anyone think they'll stop?
Also games of musical chairs have been played with government jobs with government jobs being taken from whites and given to minorities.
This is the basic formula for a New York Times pro-communism piece.
This appears to be well researched.
Nossir. The minute I saw 'New York Times' I knew it was blatant propaganda.
