The article's argument is slimier than just an outright lie that government is shrinking: it is arguing that the number of government employees has stopped growing as rapidly as it used to.

It argues that if government jobs grew as fast as the population, there would be 1.8mm more new government jobs.

The article wants us to forget that there have been some slight technological advances since 1992.

The New York Times has a long and storied tradition of lying outright to further the cause of communism and socialism, with one of the most egregious examples -- whitewashing Stalin -- occurring 70+ years ago.

If they have (much more than a) 70+ year tradition of lying for communism, what makes anyone think they'll stop?
