Kansass Convention of States application is hanging in the wind as the session is wrapping up. We have identified individuals that are actively trying to stop HCR5010 from coming to a vote prior to the legislature convening. These individuals have bought into the fear of somehow our Founding Fathers put a device in our Constitution that is never to be used. They believe the fear mongers that somehow despite the words in the Constitution that gives an Article V Convention only one power (to propose amendments), that somehow this state run body will rewrite the entire constitution and we will be worse off than our Republic is today.
Lets review the state of our Republic as it stands today. The average length of service of US Senators and US Representatives continues to grow with many of them refusing to retire even after 30+ years in Washington DC while fighting to keep their centralized power they have amassed. The national debt has skyrocketed to over $19,000,000,000,000 (zeros included to ensure comprehension) with unfunded mandates well over $100,000,000,000,000. A federal income tax that punishes employees and hard work while rewarding individuals that work for cash or are not citizens. An executive branch that continues to amass greater and greater powers with specifically through regulations of the EPA, IRS, NSA, etc. while not to even mention the executive orders from the President. A Supreme Court that rules that commerce should be defined as any action that causes commerce to happen while compelling anything deemed as a tax as being constitutional.
Let me summarize that these individuals are in fact a pawn of the status quo as reviewed above. Thats right, because a vote against HCR5010 in the Kansas House is a vote for everything we just reviewed regarding the state of our country. These individuals are both Republican and Democrat, but they all are voting to keep the status quo in Washington DC. Please encourage these individuals to rethink their stance in opposition to the Founding Fathers remedy actually spelled out in the Constitution. Encourage them to join the 70+ other Representatives in Kansas that are set to vote in favor of HCR5010.
Today Kansas Convention of States application is being killed by one person, against the will of the people.
Speaker Ray Merrick, as a self- proclaimed Constitutionalist and former Chairman of ALEC, is refusing to run HCR 5010 to a vote on the House floor without giving a reason. We feel he is trying to run out the clock before the legislators adjourn for the session which will postpone and possibly take out Kansas from participating in the Convention of States.
The Kansas National Federation of Independent Business and The Kansas Association of Counties have both endorsed this measure since they have to live in their means. It is time for Washington DC to start living within its means like Kansas and the rest of us.
There is no reason to postpone this vote. The Kansas House has overwhelming supported this measure, yet we are being told that no vote will be taken. The Founding Fathers purposely put this measure in the Constitution in order to give state legislators the power to respond to an out of control federal government. The rest of the Kansas House Leadership has supported this measure. Why no vote Mr. Speaker?
We need all Kansans to call and email Speaker Merrick and the rest of the Kansas House Leadership listed below and politely and respectfully .but FIRMLY ask them to bring the Kansas Convention of States application HCR5010 to a vote as soon as possible.
We are also asking ALL patriots NATIONWIDE to please call from far and wide to all these leaders in the Kansas legislature listed below and let them know that Kansas and the rest of the country is ready to pass the Convention of States Project resolution in order to stop the runaway federal government.
Again, please be polite and respectful but firm.

Article V ping!
Give these KS legislators a call or email. It is the least we can do!
What are they afraid of?
I am not a proponent of Article V, however political maneuvers that deny “the people” a vote on the issue should not be tolerated. The people at the very least should know how their Legislators stand on the issue. No vote doesn’t tell you much.
For those who think the Article V process is too risky, I ask, "What other options do you see?"
To summarize from a previous post by GraceG:
1. Elect More Republicans - Failed due to RINO/Uni-party confluence.
2. Article V Convention of States to propose Amendments - Needed to try to take power from the federal government back to the states and reel in the federal leviathan.
3. State Nullification - Last ditch effort to try to take power back from the federal monster, though by this point it may be too late.
4. State Secession - Could either end up peaceably like the breakup of the Czechoslovakia in 1993 or a brutal:
5. Civil War II like the first one.... The longer we wait on #2, the more likely #3, then #4 and finally #5. .
So, do we do nothing and just wait for # 5?
Quick review: We need 34 states to pass an application, then Congress shall, by law, call a Convention of States as soon as it receives applications from 2/3 of the State Legislatures. That's 34 states. (So far both legislative chambers of 3 States have completely passed their resolutions and 36 state legislative chambers or bodies have filed or passed resolutions.) Amendments are proposed and voted on at the convention. Each Amendment must be ratified by ¾ of the states in order to become part of the US Constitution. Thats 38 states.
There are far more political and legal constraints on a runaway convention than on a runaway Congress. - Robert Natelson
Most FReepers are aware of these links, but I post anyway for review and for people new to Article V. It is our responsibility to make Article V the most understood aspect of the US Constitution.

Good on ya’. I emailed the members.
I don’t know what or how many additional high crimes we must endure, but at some point the American people will rise up. I hope we will collectively decide to implement Article V first.
I hope we do too. Jumping to revolution without an Article V effort would be a shame. However, so many people are so angry, I can see with the right fuse, people may jump to revolution. I hope we can channel the conglomerate of boiling thoughts and feelings into a high energy Article V effort. As you've said about an Article V Convention of States,"If not now, when?"
I have this sick feeling that Obama is almost goading American to revolt. His behavior is worse every day. The Coast Guard graduation speech was so over the top to be almost delusional. Something every day. . . continues.
There is no doubt. He can't believe he's gotten away with so much. His success imo is proof that our republican institutions are incapable of serving their constitutional purposes. Congressional elections are pointless.
He'll keep dissembling until the only act left is a Reichstag-like event.
Oh wait, there was one other time when there was tyranny and taxation without representation.
Actually there is another tyranny and taxation that is going on continually in Washington, DC. Even though the residents of DC pay full federal taxes and have more population than Wyoming and Vermont, they do not have final control even over the tax money collected by the city from their own citizens. Last election about 70% of the voters favored an initiative to legalize possession of small amounts of marijuana by people 21 and over, but Republicans in Congress don’t want the city to acknowledge this or even pass laws taxing it or providing addiction treatment or other related expenses. In the late 90’s the city also collected signatures for and against Medical Marijuana, but for 10 years Congress would not even allow the city to count them. When they did, MM was favored by a large majority. A year ago when the government shut down, Congress did not want to let DC spend their own tax money for basic city services. The Mayor defied Congress and continued to collect the garbage, and provide other basic services at the threat of possibly being arrested.
So I hope you will contact your Congresscritters and tell them that this too is what our founding fathers fought for and they should be ashamed to treat 650,000 people that way.
