U.S. Special Operations forces killed a senior ISIS commander during a raid intended to capture him in eastern Syria overnight Friday to Saturday, sources familiar with what happened on the ground in Syria told CNN.
The ISIS commander, Abu Sayyaf, who was in charge of ISIS' oil and gas operations and directly and increasingly involved in ISIS command and control, fought capture and was killed in the raid, the sources said.

Before they were an AQ spinoff in the Philippines, Abu Sayyaf was a hero of the Afghan mujahadeen. That’s where the name comes from.
But I’m not buying this story either. Another *leader* who nobody had ever heard of before the headlines this morning. Along the same lines as the “Khorasan Group” BS.

The name Abu Sayyaf has not been on lists of top-line Isis leaders and he is not known to have had a price put on his head for his death or capture – unlike at least 10 other men who form the nucleus of the group’s leadership. His lack of profile led to speculation on Saturday among Iraqi officials and western diplomats in the region that the target of the raid may have been a more senior figure.
“He was very close to Adnani,” said a Baghdad-based specialist on Isis, Hisham al-Hashimi, referring to the chief spokesman of the group, Abu Mohammed al-Adnani. “They were together often.”

Here is another article on the killing of Sayyef, who apparently was getting big bucks for ISIL selling captured oil. In addition to ISIL being more accurate than ISIS, as well as not insulting a nice little goddess, you should be aware that some anti ISIL Muslims call then Daesh, which I read has an insulting slang relationship to feet. Remember when President Bush was severely insulted by having a shoe thrown at him?

Perhaps, the military has shown the president the serious error of his ways.
