A stolen Bible with two $1,000 savings bonds issued to a 90-year-old Carver County man who was murdered led police to arrest two suspects in his death.
Earl Olander was found beaten and robbed inside his home on the 16000 block of Homestead Road back on April 11. Police say his hands and ankles were bound with duct tape and that he was found lying face-down on the floor of his living room.
According to the criminal complaint, Olander had multiple injuries to his head, face and body. Police also say his entire home was ransacked, with drawers pulled out and thrown around, cabinets and closets emptied and documents and papers strewn about.
Police say they found a black rubber glove in the driveway and shoeprints consistent with both Crocs and Adidas.

Wrong. In such cases the first images that spring to mind are usually the correct ones.
Both here legally, I’m sure.
Probably Salvadorans.

The perps were not very fashionable. Who in their right mind wears Crocs while committing a crime?
Hate crime! Oh wait, never mind.
They were, in Jeb Bush’s words, “dreamers who came here as an act of love”.
“After questioning, local authorities turned the pair over to the Fashion Police.”
The thing on the right told police that the old man was targeted because he was old, lived alone and had money. So it confessed, now just take these things out and HANG them!!!!
They are mad dogs...rabid...and should be put down post haste.
During an investigation, police learned that 35-year-old Reinol Godines Vergara of Richfield previously painted Olanders house and shed. After his arrest, he told police Olander was an easy target because he was old, lived alone and had money, according to the complaint. Vergara and Benitez are accused of driving to Olanders house on April 9 to rob him.
Sorry...Welcome to Minnesota!
Small point, but re; comment that ‘The Bible was written in a European language”. There is no such thing as “a European Language, per se. Judging from the names of his friends, and that he was of the Lutheran Church, liked a team from Minnesota, a little asking would probably show that as being Norweigien, or some Germanic language. That’s like Obama saying someone ‘spoke Austrian’.
Why weren’t they charged with 1st degree murder?
To make it all the way to 90, and then to be taken out in this way... His final moments must’ve been horrific. God rest his kind soul.
They both have criminal records, things like drugs, assault, DWI. Who would tell us if they’re illegals?
Olander, I’d have to guess Swedish or Norwegian.
Ancestry dot com says Swedish.
Actually, any number of languages could be described as being “a European language” when the specific one isn’t known.
