Would not doubt that Russian and Chinese war gamers have told the Iranians this is not only possible but likely. These Iranian commanders assume the US would withdraw and accept defeat. The reality is the counterattack would devastate Iran. Interesting variant of the game is that the Saudis, Israelis, ISIS and others are aware of the ramifications of an Iranian assault on American ships if shooting were to start.
