Director Joss Whedon has deleted his Twitter account, following criticism of his latest film, Age of Ultron.
Its portrayal of female characters such as assassin Black Widow by Scarlett Johannsson had been called sexist.
Comic-book fans had also criticised Marvel's Avengers superhero film's plot, on the social network.
Immediately prior to deleting his account, Whedon tweeted: "Thank you to all the people who've been so kind and funny and inspiring up in here".

I thought the movie wasn’t so bad. Kids and I weren’t happy with the Pietro death (that happened in the comics much later in his life after marrying when he was an older guy).
But liked how they managed to develop Vision (different from the books, but true enough to the original).
If he didn’t want criticism I think he picked the wrong line of work...I mean Film Critic is an actual job title after all.
“Im also not a fan of large breasts. Not sure why, “
Er...You know the meme about “If you see “ Whatever when there’s a chick with bigguns in the pic?
Just sayin... ;)
Seriously though I hear you on the average chick thing. Same with guys really. Music industry as well. Look at Brittany Spears. There used to be the raw files from one of her songs on the net without the autotuning applied. It literally was painful to listen to. She got sold on sex.
The average looks thing is that same thing with a more modern twist. But they want EVERYONE to feel like a star because they look as good as the star...and thus spend more money because then they can really look as good as X or whatever.
And it helps the liberal social communist programming where none of us can be ‘better’ than anyone else.
Well, it sure seems like the actresses went along with it. They could have called him on it.
But, but, but…
and
Spoiler: the actor still has movies in his Marvel contract, Pietro will be back.
My big quandary with the movie is that if you’re going to have Tony Stark make Ultron why do an Antman movie? Admittedly I’m horribly biased against Hank Pym and have long considered Ultron the only good thing that character has ever done.
Joss can handle criticism fine. Twitter has moved way beyond criticism. It’s mostly just jerks, holding flame wars, in your feed. Which is what is going to kill it. Being popular on Twitter is now much more of a punishment than reward.
I just went green.
He wasn't harassed over anything in particular he said on Twitter. On Twitter, he was everything the SJW feminists could ask for. And they still took him down for his "crimes" in a movie he directed.
The good news is, the SJW movement is starting to eat its own (this is but an example). The bad news is they're doing that because they've effectively neutralized just about everyone else, and they're jockeying for the spoils.
I would LOE to see the reaction to the Marc Silvestri/Rob Liefeld/Jim Lee era superchicks from Marvel/Image comics. And not for the way they were drawn...assuming of course they actually could get past the drawing. Which I doubt.
What’s wrong with people, that they take fiction so seriously. I mean, come on.
Get your butt outdoors and enjoy life!
Gotta love it when leftists eat their own
Big, poofy lips, and big, poofy, uh, other things.
There is no satisfying those folk. I've like'd Joss' stuff since Buffy. Firefly was even better IMO.
A fight between wiener haters.

I agree with your comments there.
I hear what you are saying. Funny thing is, Spears was a very nice looking girl at one point. Then she trashed herself. I wasn’t sold on her talent. I’d say it was probably a group effort to make her the star she was. I guess that’s always true to an extent.
Some women truly are outstanding looking, and well as some men too. It’s when she’s (generic sense) not all that, and they try to sell her, that it rubs me the wrong way. The late night shows are famous for this. They blow out the introductions far beyond reality.
Okay, that’s great. I have no problem with others liking her, because she’s not a dog by any means.
Glad you appreciate her. You’re not alone.
