The founder of the organization that sponsored the Mohammad cartoon contest in Garland, TX, has long been in the news as an incendiary spokeswoman for anti-Islamic causes.
Pamela Geller is the founder of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, an organization also known as Stop Islamization of America, which was formed in 2009 to oppose the building of a mosque and community center near the site of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. That controversy propelled Geller into the national spotlight.
AFDI has been classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Geller, who is Jewish, has been denounced by the Jewish Anti-Defamation League as rousing public fears about a vast Islamic conspiracy to destroy American values.
Though she is has voiced support for Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, her strident rhetoric and sweeping accusations have caused many conservatives to distance themselves from her.
She accused two prominent conservatives of being sympathetic to the jihadist cause, which she believes led to her exclusion from the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2011. She said that Grover Norquist and Suhail Kahn were puppets of the Islamic Brotherhood, and they used their influence to bar her from CPAC.
On her blog, Atlas Shrugs, she called Norquist a dangerous Islamic infiltrator" and said Kahn, a Republican consultant and former Bush White House official, was worse than Anwar al-Awlawki, a terrorist killed by a U.S. drone strike in Yemen.
Geller insists she is a defender of freedom of speech against jihadists and a shadowy group attempting to impose Sharia law on the United States. The U.S. Constitution is under attack from fundamentalist Islam and Shariah," is the mission statement of the SIOA.
She repeated that stance in interviews with Fox News and CNN on Monday after the attacks, saying the attack was on free speech, not her or keynote speaker Geert Wilders, a Dutch politician who is on an al-Qaeda hit list.
Civilized men can disagree. Savages will kill you when they disagree, she said to CNN, adding that in America we're abridging our freedoms so as not to offend savages.
In that same interview she denied being anti-Muslim, but said she is against the 25 percent of them who support Sharia law.
She told Fox News that the media is part of the problem, as well.
"We see across the world Sharia enforcement by violent jihadists," she said on Fox & Friends on Monday. "And the media scrubs, whitewashes the jihadic doctrine. What happened in France [the Charlie Hebdo slaughter] could easily have happened here."
Mooslims are offended if you don’t convert to Mooslimism, so if the standard is to not offend Mooslims then you better start worshiping Muhammad immediately.
It’s red meat for the psychopaths. Now they know exactly how to keep the weak from voting for Ted Cruz.
The author does not think the MSM is the problem.
The author does not think Islam and its invasion is the problem.
The author does not think.
Any non-muslim who is not is sadly ignorant of the basic tenants of Islam.
Agreed. She played them like a fiddle, proving to the world that Islam is a violent, unyielding, intolerant death cult.
In January 17,2015, and the same public school center, there was a Stand with the Prophet rally by Muslims, a pro-Shariah law event, by supporters Al-Qaida and Isis organized by one of the terrorists implicate in the bombing of the garage of the NY World Trade Center in 2003. I wonder if those who try to blame the organizers of the First Annual Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest, for the Muslim terrorist attack would have justified if some patriotic American had irrupted in Muslim rally on January 2015 and made a massacre of Islamic terrorists. After all, Americans are profoundly offended by the abuse of our freedoms by those who made the Muslim rally in support of the savages that decapitate, crucify and burned Christians alive, a real grievance more justified than the alleged offense provoked among the Islamic fanatics by the Mohamed cartoons.
I agree with you, too. See my tagline..
Tom should have been in Manchester, TN in June 2014
the hate mongering wasn’t coming from Pam or Robert Spenser...
the phobias weren’t on Pam’s side...
The accusations and lies weren’t from Pam either..
The SPLC is classified as a hate group by WayneS.
Anyone who contemplated voting for Ted Cruz is probably someone who has little or no time for Muslims.
Nordquist is a dirt bag. Geller has him nailed.
They have plenty of help from the Freeper left on that account.
Faster than rats to cheese.
Sounds like they shot first.
They should give her a medal for doing what the government refuses to do: Defending the country by luring these Islamic bugs out from under their rocks. They’re crazy enough to kill over cartoons they are crazy enough to kill over anything, and they are ALL over the country and the government under this administration is doing NOTHING. Every city in this country should have a draw a Mohammed day. If you can’t take a cartoon then you got no biz whatsoever living in the USA.
May the events in Garland, TX prove to be the tipping point.
Nobody pays attention to them.
That statement there would make a dandy bumper sticker.
Thats why Mitch and Jonbon got reelected. And why many conservatives threw away their cred to vote Romney. Nobody listened to leftist freepers, leftist republicans of leftists in the right wing media.
Yea, they do listen. Thats why conservatism is mired in the mess it’s in.
