Highest Ranking Cold War Defector: The KGB Invented ‘Liberation Theology’

In a startling new interview, a 3-star general and former head of Communist Romania’s secret police who defected to the United States in 1978, claims that the Theology of Liberation was the creation of the KGB, who exported it to Latin America as a way of introducing Marxism into the continent.

Ion Mihai Pacepa has been called “the Cold War’s most important defector,” and after his defection, the Romanian government under Nicolae Ceausescu placed two death sentences and a $2 million bounty on his head. During the more than ten years that Pacepa worked with the CIA, he made what the agency described as “an important and unique contribution to the United States.”

He is reported in fact to have given the CIA “the best intelligence ever obtained on communist intelligence networks and internal security services.”

Pacepa says that he learned details of the KGB involvement with Liberation Theology from Soviet General Aleksandr Sakharovsky, Communist Romania’s chief foreign intelligence adviser, who later became head of the Soviet espionage service, the PGU.

In 1959, Sakharovsky went to Romania together with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, for what would become known as “Khrushchev’s six-day vacation.” According to Pacepa, Khrushchev “wanted to go down in history as the Soviet leader who had exported communism to Central and South America.” He chose Romania as his point of export, since it was the only Latin country in the Soviet bloc and provided a logical liaison to Latin America because of the similarity of language and culture.

Pacepa claims that the Theology of Liberation was not merely infiltrated by the KGB, it was actually the brainchild of Soviet intelligence services.

POPE FRANCIS OPENED VATICAN DOORS TO LATIN AMERICAN LEADERS OF MARXIST LIBERATION THEOLOGY.

According to Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Pope Francis has close ties with liberation theology, the same discaterio that once condemned the movement. In the 1980s the CDF under then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger attacked liberation theology as borrowing “from various currents of Marxist thought“.

In the 1980’s, by orders of Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Ratzinger, the prefect of the CONGREGATION FOR THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH, issued the following INSTRUCTION ON CERTAIN ASPECTS OF THE “THEOLOGY OF LIBERATION” in which it was condemning the inclusion of the “class struggle” and other tenets of the ideology and Marxist praxis under the Christian cover of a so called liberation theology.

I heard that story before. It's ridiculous to think Obama would have been spying on the Soviets for the US. He was a die-hard supporter of communism from day-1. While in college he attended pro-Soviet rallies. His "Uncle Frank" that he mentions in his book 'Dreams' was a devoted supporter of the Soviet Union. He wrote poems glorifying them.

Obama’s Red Mentor Praised Red Army

Barack Obama’s childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA (CPUSA), wrote a poem dedicated to the Soviet Red Army. “Smash on, victory-eating Red Army,” he declared. He also wrote poems attacking traditional Christianity and the work of Christian missionaries.

The “Red Army” poem goes beyond hoping for the communists to beat the Nazis in World War II and hails the Soviet revolution. It says:

Show the marveling multitudes

Planted twenty-five years ago

What is really sad here is that VIRTUALLY NO ONE will care about this. It is UP TO US to show this to our kids, as examples of what enemies of freedom will do and just how tough our fight was.

This “Liberation Theology” crap NEVER made any sense. The idea of churches, which were generally left alone by right-wing governments, leading the charge for Communism, which means either the destruction of the churches, or, at best, total government control of them.

Yet we kept being told that it was the churches demanding this crap.

McCain ran such a poor campaign, he essentially endorsed Obama in the final weeks. I knew he wouldn't be any great shakes as President, but giving up the campaign in order to vote in favor of plunging the country ever deeper into debt told everyone everything they needed to know about how he would govern as President. That was a real lose/lose election if ever there was one. The chance of Palin at the helm one day was the only reason I voted for him.
