Gallup: Less Than 1% of Adult Population Part of a Same-Sex Couple
CNS News ^ | April 29, 2015 | Michael Morris

Posted on 04/29/2015 7:58:15 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

According to a recent Gallup survey, of the total U.S. adult population (approximately 243 million U.S. adults), less than 1 percent, only .8 percent (approximately 2 million U.S. adults), are part of a same-sex couple.

The same survey finds that approximately .3 percent (.3%) of U.S. adults are married to a same-sex spouse, a mere .5 percent (.5%) identify as being in a same-sex domestic partnership and, of the estimated .8 percent (.8%) of the total U.S. adult population that are a part of a same-sex couple, 780,000 are married. In other words, of the estimated 2 million adults that are a part of a same-sex couple, 39 percent (39%) are married.

Gallup’s survey also has statistics for “All others.” “All others” account for the estimated 241,000,000 U.S. adults (99.2%) that are not either married with a same-sex spouse or unmarried and living with a same-sex domestic partner.

“At 990,000, Gallup’s estimated number of same-sex married or domestic partner couples in the U.S. is significantly higher than past estimates derived from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS), which in 2013 put the number of same-sex couples at roughly 727,000,” says Gallup. “Of this group, more than 250,000 reported that they were married. The Census Bureau, however, has cautioned that the ACS estimates of married same-sex couples may not be completely reliable as they have determined that a large portion of recorded married same-sex couples may actually be married heterosexual couples who miscoded the sex of one of the spouses."

“These data are based on 80,568 interviews conducted on Gallup Daily tracking from Jan. 28-April 19, 2015,” says Gallup.

and yet those people are making policy and running things

Because we condone that behavior by paying attention to them. I'd like to see one day where there is not a gay/lesbian thread on Free Republic. There are more important topics than who's doing who.

if they were not trying to destroy marriage, throw people in prison and out of business, show it all over TV and brainwash kids into thinking sex is okay at their age, then maybe there wouldn’t be any threads about it on FR

There is NO WAY it’s less than one percent. The media have all assured me it’s about 46%. And trannies make up another 22%. Heteronormatives are a mere 2% of the population. I believe this because the media say it is so.

One of the standard talking points by gay activists has been “studies show that gay marriage will be a tremendous economic benefit to local communities, etc.”

Gay marriage will be a tremendous economic benefit to local divorce lawyers.

I've long been convinced that's what's going on here.

When you have a Congress and a whole bunch of state legislatures composed of lawyers, it should be no surprise if they pass a bunch of laws benefitting lawyers.

Gay marriages, divorces, annulments, estates, etc. are a VAST new revenue stream.

Follow the money. Always.

So they're only about a third of the one percent. Got it.

The following companies support the homosexual movement by funding their political terrorism:

“Follow the money. Always.”

I’ve always suspected that the far left has used this homosexual marriage cry for three reasons :

1> A trojan horse to take on churches. They want them paying property taxes (i.e. money) and eventually eliminated or funding Dem candidates. No more freebies for an entity that competes with worshiping the almighty state.

2> A rallying cry for the Democrats. The Democrats cannot afford to see anyone succeed. Success, no matter how trivial, costs them votes. A genuine civil rights movement might facilitate success. They can only exploit minorities and white guilt liberals by paying them lip service and nothing more!

What Dems needed was a “civil rights” kind of movement that garners political support yet does absolutely nothing to improve anyone’s life. Enter the radical homosexual movement (ugh, that sounded wrong)!

Most people don’t support this stuff? No problem! We’ll simply label them as haters and bigots!

Well, they did just that and got the support they needed in 2012 to get a win over a candidate as exciting as half dried mud. The Dems have failed miserably since then (aside from concessions made by our gutless leaders in the Senate and House).

Of course, they’ve doubled down on this movement as they have nothing else. Never did I expect to see a bunch of idiotic people protest an entire STATE over a piece of legislation nor did I ever think people would get sued over disagreement based on religious beliefs.

The fact that this has distracted from issues that really matter was a minor bonus for the Dems. Every one of their policies that “matter” has been an abject failure. They know that.

3> Many rich, militant homosexuals dump a lot of money into Democrat coffers. We see that from various people in Hollywood and the media at large.

This whole movement is built on a house of cards. It was literally forced down America’s throat. More importantly, people are AFRAID of this movement. Should you simply say “No, I do not agree with your lifestyle”, your entire life can be wrecked as we’ve seen in Oregon and Indiana!

Who in their right mind is going to believe a poll after seeing fascism like that in action?!?!!? I once saw a person on Facebook claim that “Gay sex is ‘icky’, but I support their cause”. They were literally SLAMMED with insults ranging from “bigot” to “breeder” by the entire spectrum of the Rainbow SS.

I think most people are against this nonsense and are completely afraid to speak up. These attention whores are going to push too far like they always do. Once reality snaps back, they’re going to be standing there wondering what went wrong as they see their little rainbow utopia fall apart as quickly as it was built.

They may get their legal “marriage”, but once they start to overreach beyond that, public support is going to plummet. One thing about Americans ... we HATE being silenced and we are completely sick and tired of it. The Democrats avoided this topic for years for good reason ... it’s a loser. They were out of ideas, knew they had a weak leader in the White House, and had to do *something*. They had to resort to fascism to get it ‘implemented’. I don’t think it’ll be a big time topic for discussion 10 years from now ... it all reeks of some big time fad.

I just hope I’m right :-)!

This tiny cohort of mentally ill misfits is attacking Christianity in this country ...and winning! Where are the Christian leaders , the shepherds who are to lead Jesus’s lambs to the safety of Heaven? Has your pastor preached against this attack by Satan against the Church? If not, he is what Jesus called “a hireling,” more concerned about his paycheck than his flock.

>> 1% of the population wants to tell the other 99% how to live.

Unlikely. It’s the Left exploiting the delusional 1% to poison the roots of our existence.

allow the marriage but tax gays for the costs of fighting STD’s and AIDS research and the drugs society has expended on their behalf.

You have to pay if you gonna play. No that is discrimination, tell it to the smokers.

Well, it makes sense, since no-fault divorce applies to them too. With the liability of no-fault divorce, plenty of even opposite-gender couples simply shack up, figuring, under false assumption, that you save resources by not being married, when that is not exactly true, legally speaking.

What a bigoted, intolerant, homophobic observation..........you obviously have no concept of what "being fair" means......

It’s probably a very similar percentage to opposite-sex couples, but that’s not the issue.

This MUST be a dirty trick by conservative Koch brothers (insert current Democrat hate target) to sway people from the truth. Everybody KNOWS 10% or more of America is gay!

What? Less than 1.00%!!??

From all the hubbub in the "news" and by the politicians, I thought it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 75%!!

How could I have gotten it so wrong?

In a 1991 study, sex researcher Shere Hite found that 70 percent of married women have cheated on their partners; a 1993 follow-up study found that 72 percent of married men have as well.

It might be higher for homosexual marriages, but there is no way to know, yet.

I don't believe it in any case. Sex researchers like that pervert Kinsey lie a lot.
