Religious institutions could be at risk of losing their tax-exempt status due to their beliefs about marriage if the Supreme Court holds that gay couples have a constitutional right to wed, President Obamas attorney acknowledged to the Supreme Court today. Its certainly going to be an issue, Solicitor General Donald Verrilli replied when Justice Samuel Alito asked if schools that support the traditional definition of marriage would have to be treated like schools that once opposed interracial marriage. I dont deny that.

I have great love for the Church but this is what they get for bedding the Progressives for the past 100+ years. It’s called Natural Consequences.
First, the tax exempt status will be removed for any church that refuses to perform same-sex weddings.
Some people on this site have expressed the opinion that this is a good thing, that then ministers will be “free” to preach the truth.
Not so. Once the tax exempt status is removed, and there is no major push back to that, then next is the “hate speech” laws that Canada and the United Kingdom already have in place. Ministers have already been put in jail for preaching against same-sex marriage or homosexuality.
Once that is done, then the Bible itself will be declared a “hate book” and it will be illegal to carry it openly or even to own one.
This is where we are headed if nothing stops the avalanche that is happening right now.
” I think thats their goal, to completely destroy religious institutions.”
Of course it is.
tax-exempt status was a bad idea anyway, they should never have registered with the government to begin with
re: “Fine....then preachers can say what they want.”
I disagree. They may be left alone for a short time, but if there is no push back to removing the tax exempt status, then the next rung on the descent into hell is declaring preaching against homosexuality or same-sex marriage as “hate speech”. The mayor in San Antonio already tried to do that very thing, but it was stopped, for now.
Canada and the UK already have such laws and have been prosecuting ministers who preach “hate.
Then, next is declaring the Bible a “hate book”.
If nothing happens to turn this juggernaut around, I think we are looking at all these things happening within the next 5 to 10 years. Maybe sooner.
I am praying hard that you’re correct. But the left always presses its advantages, no matter how unpopular it may be at the moment. They didn’t fight that hard just to give up ground. They will just bring the apathetic, distracted, majority of the public along after they enact the law. See CommieCare. They will suppress voices of opposition until the public believes that everyone thinks it’s a good thing (and the ones who still don’t believe it, believe themselves to be isolated), because most people are sheep.
I admit, the thought is not original with me.
It was pointed out in an article I read about the Houston mayor who started to go after religious institutions because she thought the churches were speaking out against her and violating provisions of their 501(c)(3) status.
The author said she thought the reason the Mayor backed down was due to someone basically hauling her aside and telling the Mayor to back off, because this was a court fight she would lose and therefore, government would lose control of the churches.
Pretty good article here: http://thefederalist.com/2014/10/21/houston-sermons-are-legally-speaking-fair-game/
The last paragraph is the clincher. I believe this article is the one I was alluding to when I mentioned the “deal with the devil.”
On the bright side, this would help the push to a flat tax with no deductions of any kind.
This would be a good thing. Obama is miscalculating, thankfully.
Luckily I have several copies and lots more ammo.
Bears repeating:
First, the tax exempt status will be removed for any church that refuses to perform same-sex weddings.

I’d prefer to keep my soul.
they’ll only target bible believing Christians.
Those who are compromised will be left alone.
If the supreme court decides that states can outlaw homosexual marriage, would California’s Prop 8 be reinstated?
Honestly, I don’t know how it would come out.
Hitler knew the times in which he lived, which allowed him to get away with murder.
Our current president has gotten away with “extra-judicial” killing of American citizens and various other high crimes and misdemeanors.
Churches have to stand up against government intrusion. More than likely, though, the Churches will allow government to define the box in which the church must remain and then government will slowly shrink the box until the church finally wakes up. By then, it will be too late.
The times being what they are, I just don’t know if the will is there to resist tyranny. Heck, most of us already keep our heads down, because we darn well know all it takes is one petty government official and our lives are ruined.
You can bet your butt that if a church stands against homo-fag marriage that they will lose their tax exempt status. AND thousands of entities that Churches support will be the victims as about 40% of the church’s income will go to the commies in fag DC and the churches will not have the monies to support the various charities, missionaries, children’s homes, etc.
re: “Luckily I have several copies and lots more ammo.”
I hear you, brother. Can you believe that the once great United States of America, the last bastion of real freedom on earth, that saved the world in two world wars, that has freed millions of people from oppression, has come to this? As Thomas Jefferson once said, “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just.”
The Catholic church is already adjusting it’s “preaching”.
We are at that awkward point in history where we have recognized that there is no point in voting. The government rules us without regard to the Constitution. But, the shooting has not yet started. Patience and prayer for now.
I agree with your sentiments about how they’ll kill Christians. It’ll be a progression. So when will there be any “push back” by those being persecuted?
