Senator Ted Cruz has positioned himself as a strong opponent of same-sex marriage, urging pastors nationwide to preach in support of marriage as an institution between a man and a woman, which he said was “ordained by God.”
But on Monday night, at a reception for him at the Manhattan apartment of two prominent gay hoteliers, the Texas senator and Republican presidential hopeful struck quite a different tone.
During the gathering, according to two people present, Mr. Cruz said he would not love his daughters any differently if one of them was gay. He did not mention his opposition to same-sex marriage, saying only that marriage is an issue that should be left to the states.
The dinner and “fireside chat” for about a dozen people with Mr. Cruz and his wife, Heidi, was at the Central Park South penthouse of Mati Weiderpass and Ian Reisner, longtime business partners who were once a couple and who have been pioneers in the gay hospitality industry.

Just because you support traditional marriage and oppose so-called “gay marriage” doesn’t mean that you “hate” anybody!!!
Cruz is correct that it is an issue that should be left to the states.
Not all gays support gay marriage so it should certainly not be expected that all heteros must support it.

Anyone who refuses to love their child because they’re gay should have their head examined. That has nothing to do with one’s belief on gay marriage. There is no reason to twist the issue together.

This reception is “news” only because the gay NYT got to write the word
“gay” umpteen times in the article. Otherwise, Cruz meeting two businessmen would have gone unreported.

Dear Senator Cruz: find out who these two indiscreet 'friends' are and tell them to go to hell despite any risk of losing financial backing from them.
Because liberals exhibit unbridled hatred for anyone who disagrees with them on virtually anything, they think that sane people do, too.
The NY times are going on an all out attack by making it look he is trying to have for the base and conservatives and then pandering.

Leftists hate you to your bones. Not your actions, not your ideas but YOU for opposing them. They think all people are hate filled as they are which is why this is newsworthy to the NYT.
I guess some here won’t be voting for Ted Cruz because he met with some gay people.
Its because, as we all know, for all their preachiness, they have no real concept of tolerance and flip out when it gets displayed.

I don’t think any of us hate gay people here in itself. We just don’t like the activism, double standards, pedophilia, sexual deviance in general, the flamboyant personalities, and drama that comes with the freak show...: )
NY Times have done a couple of articles lately and all trying to paint Cruz as a hypocrite so he loses conservatives, yes that is how stupid they think conservatives are in their elitist circles and cocktail parties.
