Ted Cruz Is Guest of Two Gay Businessmen
New York Times ^ | APRIL 23, 2015 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Posted on 04/24/2015 1:18:24 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Senator Ted Cruz has positioned himself as a strong opponent of same-sex marriage, urging pastors nationwide to preach in support of marriage as an institution between a man and a woman, which he said was “ordained by God.”

But on Monday night, at a reception for him at the Manhattan apartment of two prominent gay hoteliers, the Texas senator and Republican presidential hopeful struck quite a different tone.

During the gathering, according to two people present, Mr. Cruz said he would not love his daughters any differently if one of them was gay. He did not mention his opposition to same-sex marriage, saying only that marriage is an issue that should be left to the states.

The dinner and “fireside chat” for about a dozen people with Mr. Cruz and his wife, Heidi, was at the Central Park South penthouse of Mati Weiderpass and Ian Reisner, longtime business partners who were once a couple and who have been pioneers in the gay hospitality industry.

I’m about as conservative as they come, own a small business and would never have a client who was gay unless they were total closet and didn’t flaunt it in my face. When it comes to my grandchildren, should they ever adopt the gay lifestyle, I would still love them and they would be welcome in my home but their partners would not be nor would I recognize or condone their lifestyle choice.

I don’t care what people or family members do in the privacy of their own home just as I don’t want anyone deciding what I should or should not do in the privacy of my own home.

Guess I’m too old to try to understand why anyone is even talking about gay marriage at any level of government. To my mind, it’s morally wrong and I don’t remember reading anything in the Constitution that allows the marriage of two men or two women to each other. How far we have wandered.

Very accomplished man.

I don’t think any of us hate gay people here in itself. We just don’t like the activism, double standards, pedophilia, sexual deviance in general, the flamboyant personalities, and drama that comes with the freak show...: )

It's the same sloppiness of language that permits the opposition to say that Christians "condemn homosexuals". No, Christians do not; they condemn homosexual acts, which acts, in and of themselves, are morally depraved and sinful.

But in today's world, the two - homosexuals and homosexual acts - are semantically conjoined. Why? So they can paint authentic Christian people as haters, of course.

I won’t go to that website - does the article state why these two invited Cruz for the fireside chat at their place of residence or question their hypocrisy for hosting a future non-Democrat President?

If this story is true, Cruz is, in fact, pandering.

No it doesn’t. Meeting with them doesn’t mean pandering to them.

I guess some here won’t be voting for Ted Cruz because he met with some gay people.

That's expected..and if he's the primary nominee, they'll be staying home. I've read several comments today regarding Rubio saying they'll vote for Hillary instead if he's the nominee........Just doesn't make sense to me.

All I know is that the MSM is playing the purists in our party like a worn out fiddle by airing these articles knowing full well that all they're doing is throwing fuel on a fire and letting us destroy our own.........And the "Stay at Homers" don't have a clue.

So the left lies for a decade (and more) equating opposition to gay marriage as hate for gays. Now, they are surprised when those who oppose gay marriage actually like gay people. Oh, the horrors when the light of truth shines.

That’s because liberals are trained by the mob and Republicans are trained at country clubs.

Ronald and Nancy Reagan were friends with Merv Griffin and Johnny Mathis. Both were at Reagan’s funeral and are rumored to be homosexuals.

And... No one said there cannot be gays! No one said they WOULD NOT be tolerated!

What's being argued is WHY the LAW and the Constitution MUST be changed to accommodate 3 to 5% of the public because they DEMAND it be changed.

I think anyone who thinks this story will turn conservatives against Cruz is a half wit.

Reagan was from Hollywood and even in the 50s and 60s you couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting one.

Leave it to the NYT to get it totally wrong.

They were not "gay", they were sodomites. Words have meaning and those who engage in the deviant abomination of homosexuality are not "gay", which means joyous and happy. When Almighty God in His Infinite Justice smote Sodom and Gomorrah, there wasn't any gayness.

Dear NY Times:

The Law of Non-Contradiction states that something cannot both be, and not-be, in the same sense, at the same time.

There is no contradiction here.

But thanks for playing.
