Wellness advocate Belle Gibson, who translated her high profile as a cancer survivor into publishing success, has admitted her cancer diagnosis was not real.
Ms Gibson, 23, who claimed to have healed terminal brain cancer by eating wholefoods, made the admission in an interview with the Australian Women's Weekly.
The success of Gibson's book, The Whole Pantry, and her smartphone application, which advocates natural therapies, has been largely dependent on her high-profile as a cancer survivor.
Asked if she had ever had cancer, Ms Gibson told the magazine: "No. None of it's true.
"I don't want forgiveness. I just think [speaking out] was the responsible thing.
"Above anything, I would like people to say 'OK, she's human'."
There were also allegations that promised donations to charities had not been paid by the company she founded, The Whole Pantry.
In a statement published on the company's Facebook page, The Whole Pantry admitted cash flow problems.
"All remaining promised donations and support will be honoured as soon as the finances are in order," it said in a post last month.
Publisher Penguin Random House stopped printing The Whole Pantry in March amid uncertainty around whether Ms Gibson had cancer.
The Whole Pantry recipe book was released in Australia last year and was scheduled to be launched in the USA and England this month.
She raised money in the name of several charities, who have yet to receive any of it.
Sounds like a good Obammy future CDC director candidate.

She needs to experiment with her own life.
What idiots like this don't realize is that if someone follows their advice, they are risking their lives on a lie.
She needs to be called what she is... A liar.

Anyone injured by following her advice should be able to sue her into oblivion.
yeah, read about this a while back. peope are so gullible when they are sick. she was disgusting and sounded like a psycho.
i know i have about 40 supplements and gimmicks for brain injury in the closet rotting away
now i just take, omega 3, turmeric, vitamins D and E and eat blueberries and hope for the best lol
Ah, I hate when that happens! (sarc/off}
Her humanness is not a foregone conclusion.
Hey, what difference at this point does it make?
So now it’s OK to cheat and steal other people’s money, no matter how gullible they are, just say at the end, “I only wanted them to see that I am human, too.” If that one was in the US, she’d be a devoted obozo/hitlery voter.
Mighty young to be such an accomplished con artist! She should be locked up before she does any more real harm.

Fraud.
May you get the opportunity!
“Anyone injured by following her advice should be able to sue her into oblivion.”
While I have nothing but disdain for this liar and cheat, anyone who followed her advice to cure their cancer needs a keeper, and their head examined.
No soup for you Belle Gibson!
Sound like she deserves some time in the gray-bar hotel.
“So... eating tofu and tree bark does NOT cure cancer, in case you were wondering...”
Nothing cures cancer in someone who doesn’t have it.
They may need a keeper - but deliberately lying to promote a health approach should be considered attempted murder.
This isn’t new information that countermands previously discovered studies supporting the approach - it is the deliberate use of a lie to gain money by promulgating an approach that will kill people.
Just my opinion, of course.
