In New Orleans, midnight sounded on last call for smoking. A new law just took effect banning cigarettes, cigars and other forms of tobacco smoking from all bars.
And some local residents are relieved.
This is one of the smokiest bars in town, said Steve Zweibaum, speaking to the New York Times from one local bar. I know a bunch of people who dont come in here because of the smoke. Maybe theyll come back.

When will they ban marijuana?
I think a group of business owners has gathered to sue the city over this ordinance.
Nah! I’m sure someone is pushing to make recreational use legal there. It will be on the 2016 ballot in Nevada. Under the guise of “regulate and tax” which basically makes it recreational. There are already plans in place for the number of stores that will be allowed. Mostly in Las Vegas and a few in the Reno area and a smattering in the rest of the state.
They ought to...this isn’t government’s affair.
Screw initiative. Let the government dictate what you’re allowed and NOT allowed to do. :>}

My son is a professional musician and I love the fact that bars ban smoking. He never smoked and after performing in a bar that does have smoking he would hardly be able to talk.
Of course because there is BIG bucks in the stuff and you know how politicians LOVE those big bucks. “Sinners” are their best friends because they can levy so many taxes because of them. What next cocaine tax?

I bet you’ll be able to find Willie Nelson’s brand “Willie’s Reserve”
sold in the underground market.

Drinking booze doesn’t bother anyone but the drinker (as long as they don’t drive) but smoking bothers everyone in the room. Smokers don’t seem to get that........but I think that bar and restaurant owners should be able to decide. This really surprises me about NO. Never thought they would do this.
Feh! Surely you jest!
That's not their business! They didn't build that!
Just as a bar that permits smoking should not (and can not) force your son to perform there, neither should your son -- using the power of government -- force the bar owner to accomodate his (your son's) sensitivity.
I understand your concern about your son's condition, but if it's so severe that he is "hardly able to talk" after performing in a bar that permits smoking, the solution is to not perform there -- not to force the private business owner to accomodate your son's special needs. Your sentiment is an attack on liberty.
“that bars ban smoking.” There is the line. Fine if the bars ban it without govt intervention. I play in smoking and non smoking bars too. But I smoke myself so............... Let the clientele determine the success or failure. Just more camel nose under the tent.
