Two Republican congressmen who posed for a picture with an assault rifle are coming under scrutiny from the District of Columbias Attorney General Office.
Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) last week tweeted a picture of himself and Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the leader of the House GOPs Benghazi investigation, holding an AR-15.
Buck said in the tweet that the assault rifle is his, and that the picture was taken after Gowdy stopped by his office.
Having the AR-15 in the Cannon House Office Building could be a violation of the Districts strict gun laws, and the Washington, D.C., Attorney Generals Office is looking into the matter, a spokesman told The Hill.
Buck told The Hill the rifle is inoperable and that he received approval from U.S. Capitol Police to bring it to his office, where it is on display in a locked case.
I have a very patriotic AR-15 hanging in my office. It hangs directly above my Second Amendment flag, Buck said.
While safety protocols call for all guns to be treated as if they are loaded, this one isn't. Further, a close inspection of the only public photo of the rifle will show that the bolt carrier assembly is not in the rifle; it is in fact in Colorado.
It is a beautiful, patriotic paper weight, he added.
Maybe he used that "assault rifle" to steal the suit off a Scottish used-car salesman.
Trey
Gowdy
Ping!
Want on or off this ping list of 50+ (and growing) FReepers? Just drop me a FReep mail.
What would it take to get you in this car RIGHT NOW?
LOL, yeah, he needs a wardrobe consult.

Rep. Buck muffed an obvious opportunity to assert that the US Constitutional tight to bear arms supersedes DC’s unconstitutional law against firearms.
Check out the Einreich (with)Holder picture above. You should use this for some of your wonderful photomemes. :)
Gowdy should be arrested for wearing that suit....
I see a charging handle, but I cannot tell if the bolt assembly is in place. The ejection port door seems to be open... and there should be something visible in there... but it might not be. I just can’t tell.
Everyone knows it is not the classic definition of assault rifle to an enthusiast because it does not have a full auto switch.
But that is an utterly meaningless thing to argue in gun control world. It is like someone who asks if you want a coke meaning “soft drink”. It wont change and it doesn’t matter.
To the gun control person, even if you ever get them to agree to your proper terminology, they still want banning of semi auto variants of assault rifles. And it is an easy position for them to defend. A semi auto AR-15 should scare you more than a full auto in the hands of most people.
The USMC agrees that semi is the best way.
If I had a choice, and was 100 yards away from an average soldier or someone with an AR, I know I would rather endure two seconds of terror than the semi auto emptying of that mag.
I think its a waste of time to try to get them to adopt proper firearms terminology. Same for “bullet vs cartridge”.
But Dave Gregory gets away with brandishing a high capacity magazine that are outlawed in DC ....
Even if its real I don’t care. Hillary and every presidential motorcade ignores every traffic law around, driving 80 to 90 on city streets. Nobody does anything about that. Tim Geithner and many others didn’t pay their taxes.
SO I don’t care about this.
When Sen. Webb (VA) had his assistant transport a loaded handgun into DC, he denied everything, and let his aide take the fall.
Because Webb is a dem, the DC prosecutor decided to drop charges against the aide.
Not to mention the hairdo.
Somewhere.....
A pair of used car salesmen are missing their wardrobe.
Maybe the DC fashion police are better equipped to deal with this fabulous duo.
Big time BTT!
Which is why an assault rifle is selective fire. But I get your point. In a similar vein, at a range of 100 yards or less there is no optic which wouldn't derease the time it takes to aquire my target and wouldn't help my accuracy at all. But everyone nowadays just has to hang a red dot on their AR-15. Better they should learn how to drive nails with iron sights, which just isn't that hard to learn at ranges up to 100 yards, especially with a good aperture sight. Heck, I've got an old lever action that shoots MOA at 100 yeards easily with just an old notch and groove sights.
The AG should read the Constitution. They cannot be arrested for most things at most times.
...shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their attendance at the Session of their Respective Houses, and in going to and from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.
They should investigate Gowdy’s fashion sense. Look at that suit!
