IBM Warns Louisiana Over 'Religious Freedom' Bill
By Charles Riley IBM has sent a letter to the governor of Louisiana warning that a pending religious freedom bill would create a hostile environment for the tech company's employees.
"A bill that legally protects discrimination based on same-sex marriage status will create a hostile environment for our current and prospective employees, and is antithetical to our company's values," IBM vice president James Driesse wrote in a letter to Gov. Bobby Jindal.
"IBM will find it much harder to attract talent to Louisiana if this bill is passed and enacted into law," Driesse said. The letter asks Jindal to work with the state legislature to "ensure this legislation is not discriminatory." IBM has made significant investments in Louisiana, including a technology services delivery center in Baton Rouge.
The letter is the latest warning from corporate America to states that are considering controversial religious freedom laws. In Indiana and Arkansas, an intense backlash has already forced lawmakers to make revisions.

Sorry, he a VP of sales in Baton Rouge. Heck, 10 years ago I was a VP of technology for a major bank. Didn’t mean squat.
Big Blue wants to take power from the government.
We are otherwise occupied making a living and living our lives. Liberals mostly work in Government, Academia (still government mostly) and Media. (Entertainment/News)
The jobs and industries they are in, give them far more influence than do the jobs conservatives do, and they make every effort to monopolize those jobs through deliberately discriminatory hiring practices, and rigorously imposed group think.
Usage of the term "FASCIST" is simpler. :)
This is an accursed culture.
The real news here is that IBM still exists.
Okay, so the 1st amendment to the Constitution is unconstitutional. Got it! Maybe Jindal can unload all their machines.
IBM taking a “moral stance”? You mean the same people who ran the statistics for Nazi death camps? OK then...
Even though I can see it’s impossible to get products from manufactures who don’t take the same stance as IBM, Microsoft, Google, Android, Apple and others ... I buy my products on the basis of what the products do for men and then I vote for my legislators and in elections for how I want the laws to be.
I don’t always win in those cases, but that’s how I handle it.
As a conservative, I used to be “pro-business.” I still am, but have realized there are free-marekt businesses, and there are corrupt, crony-capitalist, statist, politicized businesses.
These are the enemy of limited government and rule of law.
IBM has crossed the line into this territory.
What is IBM? Irritable Bowel Movement?
Not sure that the fascists interfered so much with private preferences. Certainly the Communists & the Nazis did. The Fascists were totalitarian, also; but not as fanatic as the Lenins, Trotskys & Hitlers.
Thank god there was no ibm or apple around when the founders were writing the Constitution. There would be no first amendment.
What’s an IBM?
7090 Extinct-a-Sorus?
IBM is also laying off Americans by the thousands, like other corps, so they can hire more foreign workers at lower wages...who cares what they think.
Plus is Driesse really the best person to front this campaign? In April 2000, Driesse was among 12 men arrested in the Coates Hall bathroom at LSU. According to The Advocate, he and the other men were accused of exposing their genitals and masturbating in front of plainclothes officers. A thread on Tiger Droppings and an article at the Reveille, LSUs newspaper, explains what goes on in the Coates Hall bathroom.
IBM pays some folks a wad of money to “care” about diversity...

The left now occupies the higher echelons of corporate power in Silicon Valley, Wall Street, and Hollywood. The demographics have dramatically shifted. Not long ago Mona Charen wrote a column in the National Review saying that if Reagan were alive today, he would lose California and not win the White House.
Art V Amendemnt is not possible since it requires the consent of the legislatures of 3/4 of the states. We don’t have a “conservative” majority in 3/4 of the states’ legislatures.
