Billionaire hedge fund manager and green power advocate Tom Steyer is taking Gov. Scott Walker to task, accusing the Republican presidential hopeful of being a pawn for fossil fuel interests and a climate change denier.
In a full page ad running in the Wisconsin State Journal Tuesday, Steyers group NextGen Climate blasts the states GOP leadership for promoting a war on science by banning work on climate change.
The group calls out Walker specifically for staying silent on the issue and for signing a Koch-backed anti-climate change pledge.
Fossil fuel interests like the Koch Brothers have made millions while opposing solutions to climate change, the ad says. Theyre protecting their profits by bankrolling Big Oil politicians like Scott Walker.
Steyer, who during the 2014 election cycle pledged to spend $100 million on environmental issues, has largely ignored Walker to this point. Instead, his advocacy front group has focused on better-known GOP contenders like Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.
But reports last week on a measure to prohibit staff at the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands from engaging in global warming or climate change discussions sparked the ad buy here.

A native New Yorker now residing in San Francisco, Steyer has come under fire from the right for making some of his money off the Asian and Australian coal markets. He retired from the money management business in 2012 and has an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion.

"Now (for the moment, anyway), he's a leading contender for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. At the Conservative Political Action Conference a couple weeks ago, he polled a close second to three-time winner Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), beating the likes of Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush by a significant margin.
It probably won't surprise you to learn that none of the prospective GOP presidential candidates are exactly champions of the environment. Probably the least bad is New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who at least acknowledges that climate change is real and caused by human activity. Walker just might be the worst. He hasn't said much about the science of global warming. (In the video above, you can watch him tell a little kid that his solution to the problem will center on keeping campsites clean, or something.) But his track record of actively undermining pro-environment programs and policies while supporting the fossil fuel industry is arguably lengthier and more substantive than that of his likely rivals.
"He really has gone after every single piece of environmental protection: Land, air, waterhe's left no stone unturned," said Kerry Schumann, executive director of the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters. "It's hard to imagine anyone has done worse."
Here's a rundown of Walker's inglorious history of anti-environmentalism....."
To call “Global Warming” or “Climate Change”, as presented by the Left, “science”, while calling skepticism of same “denial” is to turn science itself upside down.
Everything the Left says is upside down from reality and truth.
Just as the Bible stated it.... there would be those that call evil “good”, and call good “evil”. No wonder the Democrats denied God three times at their last national convention.
I’d call it praise for common sense!
Climate fanatics slam the so called “climate deniers,” because there is nothing left to support their argument. Global warming wasn’t working, so it was rebranded “climate change,” making it a smaller target for evidence to hit, since no one knows what to aim at. How dare anyone deny climate. ...The deniers are the only honest people, if not the only sane people, left in the debate. The left has jumped off the anthropogenic cliff.
Slammed? “War on science”? Climate denier?
Amazing language when you don’t agree with the left.
Thanks for the link :-)
Liberal bastards will throw anything out there they can to put down ANY front runner. It’s still a way off to Nov 2016 and they are just getting started.
BTT
The Left knows they have a weak presidential candidate - that the state houses and governor’s seats are flipping into the R column faster than ever.
These Obama-burned losers will be zombie-like walking the land until this is over (and beyond).

Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama ISN'T!
He is a witch!!!
Burn him!
Conservatives need to learn how to present TRUE SCIENCE as a witness AGAINST Global Warming.
The first observation is that if “Global Warming” had any scientific basis the control freaks on the left wouldn’t have felt compelled to change the name to “Climate Change” to continue the lie.
It’s getting a bit tiresome, eh ?
Time for more Obama EPA-UN pen and phone executive action.
Unfortunately, the “low information populace” will never critically assess the juxtaposition of:
(a) STOP THE WAR ON SCIENCE (in large red-font, btw), and
(b) Sponsored by the NEXTGEN CLIMATE ACTION COMMITTEE in the bottom banner.
The question that needs to be asked is whether the science is subject to politics or vicey-versey?
Obviously, the Left is really, really worried about Scott Walker.
But why? I thought Hillary was already running away with the race? No need to attack Republicans then, if its already decided in her favor.
Seems the Left doubts that Hillary can pull it off. Best guess, they’ve done a LOT of internal polling and focus groups, and Hillary came off with big negative numbers.
No wonder her campaign is doing everything they can to keep her away from the public!
Walker 2016!!
