With Hillary Clinton due to declare her presidential intentions on Sunday, we look at the Republicans most likely to block her route to the White House.
In what is widely perceived as a mere formality on her way to the Democratic nomination (and possibly, the White House), Hillary Clinton is due to officially announce her second candidacy for US president on Sunday.
Underscoring the perfunctory nature of this announcement, Mrs Clinton is expected to launch her candidacy via a video message on social media, which if true stands as a stark contrast to the high-profile announcement speeches delivered by Republicans Ted Cruz and Rand Paul the only two candidates to have officially announced for president so far.
Mrs Clinton is hoping to make history by shattering that glass ceiling and becoming the first female president. To get there, she'll also have to buck history. It's difficult for a political party to win three consecutive presidential elections a trend she'll have to overcome on her way back to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Moreover, there's an old saying about American politics that "Republicans fall in line, while Democrats fall in love." Democrats have traditionally been more prone to factor passion and excitement into their selection process, while Republicans have been more businesslike in their tendency to settle for the "safe" establishment candidates who wait their turn. Barack Obama was the daring choice (compared to Hillary Clinton) in 2008, while Republican John McCain was "the next guy in line" that same year, as was Mitt Romney in 2012.
But fortunately for Mrs Clinton, that historical cliché appears to be in jeopardy this year....

(I don’t know anything at all about him but...)
O”Malley agrees with you.. this from today’s news...

I predict Hitlery will not be the Dhimmicrat standard bearer in the general election.
She was the presumed candidate in 2008. She is the presumed candidate now. But her baggage will prevent her from winning the nomination.
They want to claim that she is equal to and is as strong as any man, yet she and the media try to pull the whole scared female “men are threatening to women” nonsense. She is an insult to the name of woman.
I’m not even sure it will be baggage that does her in. She’s just annoying.
In Iowa in 2008, she not only forfeited her ‘inevitability’ label, people forget she came in THIRD behind Iowa next-door neighbor Obama AND she lost to John Edwards too. And it wasn’t because Iowa libtards thought she had baggage.
That’s hillarious.
Only one can defeat the Hillolita.....and thats the new Latin hero of the Republic, Ted Cruz!
What difference does it make? ( Hillery is a paranoid schizophrenic ....and who needs another one of those in the White Hut?)
Rove is lining up 10 more fake conservatives to run. We saw that trickery
in the last two elections. Split the tribal vote and the RINO wins.
If Ted Cruz is the candidate, Hillary will refuse to debate him. That would be a wise decision by Hillary. Ted Cruz would refuse to play the game of the moderator (liberal shills such as “Sud Dulce Crawley.” Cruz would take Hillary apart in honest debate. Hillary will not accept an honest debate, thus she will not debate Cruz.
H! is the 40,000ft candidate just flying over her subjects. No eye contact possible.
Hillary won’t carry the youth vote....which is huge. No kid wants grandma for President. And she’s not exactly Queenly...i.e., entitled.
“We saw that the D party didnt want her in 2008, even choosing a totally unknown person with zero actual qualifying experience, no verifiable citizenship, and certainly no constitutional qualification for the job. That was, by any objective standard, a really long reach to avoid having to nominate Hillary.”
the demoncrats choice in 2008 was purely, white guilt affirmative action. their nominee in 2016 will solely involve gender identity politics.
I’m guessing that she will try to run a “Rose Garden” Campaign, w/o being in the Rose Garden-insulated by a phalanx of selected media operatives. So, depending on the status of the race, I could see her trying to avoid any confrontation.
But, I’ve be very surprised if she could avoid a debate- though I agree with you that she would not want to debate Sen. Cruz—— who would?
Bingo. What will she do when Kim Jong Dong gets mean to her. Or that Scary Vladamir? She is going to play victim the whole campaign.
The DNCe must be cringing. Their number one candidate is neither photogenic, inspiring (sounds like fingernails on a chalk board), and has more baggage than will fit on three Air Force Ones.
The problem for the DNCe: They don't have much of an alternative.
Pandering IS what politics is all about.
I’m with you. I think Hillary is making a huge mistake running. I don’t think she will last very long. She can always use her health as a reason to cut and run.
