By choosing to do battle, he forced the British to build its own freshwater fleet, thereby delaying the reinforcements to points South enough for Winter to set in, and Colonial troops to train at Valley Forge.
I am already planning to do so .
I'll be right behind you
I have a 2 1/2 bedroom, single family house of 1200 sq feet, on 1/4 acre lot in a semi-rural community,
and I paid over $7300 in state/county/village/school taxes while on a "fixed income"
I can't afford to stay in NYS, and pay for rent subsidies in NYC .
Most upstate NYers didn't vote for these socialist clowns. The commies, gibsmedats, and loons in the major cities did. They are the ones who deserve what they got (New York City voted over 80% for Obama and Cuomo). In reality they are getting what they voted for (political corruption and socialism) and the rest of the State gets screwed... again.
It's all about demographics, not fairness or common sense. New York would be a great state and a conservative one if everything from Westchester County southward slid deep into the Atlantic Canyon some night.
If you’ll ok at some of the press releases of the “fabulous employment” gains under the current regime (the NEW Gnu Yak-rebranding) you will see references to “Andrew Cuomo’s Job Bank” which I find absolutely hilarious. The growth industry in NYS especially upstate is the blooming heroin business. Sordid.
Shouldn’t that be any companies stupid enough to move to New York?
BaddaBing BaddaBoom!
Wish I could move out of the state I am living in, but no money, stuck here.
I clarified my statement, I was referring to the liberals who live in socialist hell holes...
I feel sorry for the conservatives who live in those states..
Moving from NY to GA, I got twice the house for 1/6 the taxes.
And the freedom to own short barreled suppressed high capacity assault weapons.
DEMOCRATS never learn. Overtax and over regulate until financial success becomes almost impossible. But being Commiecrats, that’s probably how they want it.
Kodak went under because it missed the boat on digital photography (despite having invented the first digital camera).
I’ve lived in upstate NY. People don’t like it because:
— The property taxes are high (especially Rochester)
— It’s cold
— Many of the people are clannish and not very welcoming to outsiders
I left when Griffiss AFB shut down. Lost a ton of $$ on my house, but was glad to be out of there.

Yes, I recall Ticonderoga and the Revolutionary War and of course Plattsburgh seemed to have been a strategic area going back to the French. Ticonderoga was during the American Revolution and then the Battle of Plattsburgh was the War of 1812. Yes, the Battle during the War of 1812, was closer to town. We used to pick up old bottles on land near the shore plus in shallow water. I recall several streets that are mentioned like Cornelia. It is amazing how fast they built those ships. I wonder why history is not taught like it was?http://www.history.com/topics/plattsburgh-battle-of
had a lake cottage on cayuga lake in seneca county. property and school taxes were ridiculous. sold it back in 2002. best move i ever made.
I can imagine. I know there is only one 60 plus acre tract left of my grandfather’s on my father’s side. That land is zoned like-”unimproved agriculture” and the property taxes are more then twice what a residential home in Nashville of the same value would be. No wonder the social security and welfare offices pop up first when I searched the town.
Good for you.
Good point. Give them a year or so of tax breaks and then clobber them.
Whaaaaat? Do you mean all the TV commercials about New York State’s incentives and tax breaks for new businesses aren’t true?
I’m dashed!
They need to move to the south. There is no way in hell(or newyorkcity)that the conservatives will retake that state. The same goes for the other sh!thole hanging on to the left coast like a dingleberry.
Upstate is the good place.its the rest of the state that is wearing them out.
