NRA has taught gun safety to millions and saved millions of lives.
not typical
This one required one of the longest strings of hyperbole imaginable as a HEADLINE!!
btw
The Washington Post wants to know when I stopped beating my wife..and Im not even married!
The annoying thing is that one can see where people on the other side can disagree with the political agenda of the NRA, but to ignore how many decades of work they have done and the resources they have out into safety is ridiculous,
And the death of a child at the hands of a sexual pervert, under the front of a car, falling down the stairs, or getting beat up by some If-Obama-had-a-son/daughter thug isn’t equally devastating?
I’d suggest some numbers and real statistics against some of these be included for a rational discussion.
So what do they have to say about abortion deaths?
What nonsense. A few years ago, I read a story from John Lott in which he discussed what it was like for him and his kids going to visit the local doctor for their medical exams. The attendant nurse had, of course, no idea who he was and started the appointment by asking if there were guns in his household and began repeating anti gun talking points involving kids to him. Professor Lott, as you can imagine, politely stepped up and completely took apart the nurse’s remarks and assertions. The nurse was still a tad unfazed afterwards, but what would I (and a few others here probably) give to have seen a re-enactment of the proceedings, probably good for a chuckle or two.
I am surprised they don’t accuse the NRA of being racists form the beginning as they taught freed black slaves to use firearms to protect themselves form white DEMOCRAT slave owners.
Drownings in swimming polls is about 100,000x more prevelent! If these people really cared about “doing something” to prevent children’s death, then they would start by banning swimming pools!
The Second amendment says there is no such thing as "moderate gun control."

The "gun death" of the year is the tragic case of the five year old little boy who shot the 3 year old. It's a tragedy, no two ways about it but it's one incident. The vast majority of "childhood gun deaths" are as a result of one teenaged gang banger shooting one or more other teenage gang bangers over who gets to sell what drugs on which street corner - and please don't forget the collateral damage. Unfortunately gang bangers don't obey the law and have no trouble finding weapons, guns and otherwise, to commit their crimes.
Stuff it WaPo.
Often the studies of child deaths caused by firearms include those incidents of teenaged drug dealers killing each other. When the operational definition of a child is anyone under 20 or even under 18, it skews the statistics dramatically.
Abortion deaths involving children are even more devastating.
In fact, I’m willing to bet $5.00 that more children have been killed by abortion since Roe v. Wade was decided than have been by firearms of any sort in the same period.
THE TOP THREE CAUSES OF DEATH BY AGE GROUP

* AUTO ACCIDENTS
The automobile accounts for the largest number of accidental deaths. All infants and children should use the proper child car seats, booster seats, and seat belts.
Other top causes of accidental death are drowning, fire, falls, and poisoning.
The hoplophobes need to conflate 24 year old military officers, doctors, lawyers -- and gangsters -- with "children" in order to have guns even show up in any analysis.
We should ban cars. And swimming pools. For the children. These are objects that are much more dangerous to kids than guns. They should be easier to ban, since there is no constitutional right to a car or a swimming pool.
When logic (and sanity) fail, libs can always fall back on the “fer the chillrun” trope.
Ah! A liar in training. Next he'll be a 'Democrat Strategist.'
Chicago where the toughest gun control laws are in effect yet remains in the top 5 cities in America when it comes to gun related deaths?
There’s a billboard in Boston mounted on what looks like the outside of Fenway’s Green Monster wall that ticks off the number of “children” killed by “assault weapons”. No definition of either is given and no time span is referenced but daily the commuters in Boston are told that over 70,000 children are being killed with assault weapons.
Uncritical thinking isn’t actually thinking.
What, no mention of parental responsibility? Once again, it’s the fault of an inanimate object. There are risks and trade offs to having anything potentially dangerous around, whether it be guns, snakes, or whatever. Just read an article where three thugs tried to break into a home to rape a 19 year old and rob her grandparents. The 67 year old grandfather managed to shoot all three despite being badly beaten himself. What would have happened had he not had access to his gun? Regarding snakes, I view them as a necessary evil to keep mice and rats under control. I don’t kill every one I see but take care as to where I step and put my hands, thereby trying to manage my risk. And if there were no snakes? I’d expect the rodent population to get out of control, driving me to more extreme measures. Point being, if you accept risk to avoid an undesirable event, you, not government or some individual removed from the situation, have a responsibility to manage those risks.
Gun deaths of children are FAR more tragic than ABORTION deaths of children.
In fact, there is only one form of death for children that IS tragic: That is 'gun deaths'.
All the other forms are celebratory and festive and fun!
Too bad the Chicago Sun Times isn’t as concerned about child abortion deaths as it is about gun related deaths.
