In an appearance on The Hugh Hewitt Show Tuesday night, former Vice President Dick Cheney said that President Obamas actions on the world stage exemplify a president who wants to take America down.
Cheney also touched on Obamas comments on Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, telling Hewitt that Obama is the only post-World War II president to believe that America doesnt need to play a leading role in the world.
The former vice president made the appearance following the announcement of a new book on American foreign policy, co-authored by himself and daughter Liz Cheney, will be released in September.
HEWITT: Let me play for both of you a cut from earlier today. The president sat down with an NPR reporter who asked him about Scott Walkers statement on this show last week that hes repudiate the emerging Iran hologram I dont call it a deal on day one. Heres what the president said.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Any president who gets elected will be knowledgeable enough on foreign policy and knowledgeable enough about the traditions and precedents of presidential power that they wont start calling into question the capacity of the executive branch of the United States to enter into agreements with other countries. If that starts being questioned, thats going to be a problem for our friends and thats going to embolden our enemies and it would be a foolish approach to take. Perhaps Mr. Walker, after hes taken some time to bone up on foreign policy, will feel the same way.
HEWITT: Vice President Cheney, youve been boning up on foreign policy since you entered the House 30 years ago. What do you make of that statement.
CHENEY: Well it starts from a flawed presumption on Obamas part. For most of the last 70 years since World War II, weve had a bipartisan record in this country between Democrat and Republican. Harry Truman, Jack Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Ronald Reagan, Dwight Eisenhower, the Bushs believed America had to play a leading role in the world and needs to maintain first class military capability to do that and occasionally use it. That the world works best with U.S. leadership. The first president, really, who doesnt no longer believe that fundamental truth is Barack Obama. What hes saying, his criticism of Governor Walker I think probably Governor Walker welcomes it. Its almost like a paid commercial. I heard today as soon as the statement came out from Obama criticizing the governor, he immediately sent out to all of his supporters. Im glad he did that. Its a mark of weakness of this president that hed say such a thing.
HEWITT: Is he naive, Mr. Vice President? Or does he have a far reaching vision that only he entertains of a realigned Middle East. That somehow it all works out in the end.
CHENEY: I dont know Hugh. I vacillate between the various theories Ive heard. If you had somebody who, as president who wanted to take America down. Who wanted to fundamentally weaken our position in the world, reduce our capacity to influence events. Turn our back on our allies and encourage our enemies, it would look exactly like what Barack Obama is doing. I think his actions are constituted in my mind are those of the worst president weve ever had.
Look closely at the photo in Post#18. Dubya was respecting the Office and being too good a Christian, turning the other cheek.
When King Zero gets too big for his breeches, he is about to get King George’d.
60% would be too conservative.
So what else is new?
Thank you dear friend!!
Thank you, I appreciate that! Actually I was glad to see it posted as I haven’t been around much, lol.
If someone disrespects and disparages your family, or does things to diminish or harm it, you don’t ignore that. You speak up to defend its honor and counter the vileness of the attacks.
Despite the relentless assaults on our country’s values, principles, and heritage a supposedly conservative former president says nothing. If you believe in something, you defend it. Yet Bush allows Obama’s constant undermining of the country to go unchallenged. Many of us voted for him and we expect more. Speak up for America Mr. Bush!
And Dick you’ve just sat back for the last 7 years letting it happen?
Speak up for America Mr. Bush!

Yes!
I still remember when I first saw that photo. The first thing that came to mind was the "If looks could kill" song. Cheney KNEW about Obama from the get go. In fact, can you really imagine what Cheney knew about Obama then? . . Probably tons more stuff than we knew. He had access to intelligence the affirmed his gut feeling that Obama was a committed Marxist/socialist that hated the country and did indeed want to 'take it down' over two terms.
We have 579 more days of Obama. Are we going to make it?
The only silver lining I see is the hope that by the time he leaves office the most hopeless LIVs will finally see the light and be begging for him to leave already.
“...Thats a poor excuse. ...”
Take it up with him.
I don’t know his heart. Neither do you.
I agree completely that the US is at stake. But he’s not the only one that should be doing something.
There’s 535 members of Congress who are doing nothing but going along.
There’s 9 SCOTUS judges doing nothing but going along.
There’s one third of the people in this country doing nothing but going along, because they’re parasiting off of this miscreant and his party.
There’s another third that doesn’t give a rat’s ass.
And there’s another third that just sits and bitches while the house burns down... and does nothing.
So, given all that, what does Dubya saying ANYTHING amount to?
I understand. It’s really frustrating.
Cheney looks sideways at O’BamBam’s full face, and sees the smugness, arrogance, the narcissism - Cheney probably knows or suspects what’s in store for America.
For all we know, O’BamBam may have been sticking out his tongue at Cheney.
Betting Cheney had all he could do to resist popping the arrogant one right in his kisser - if he even uses it for that purpose - - -
The USA’s first black president and look what we got - so f’n unbelievable. (I never use that word, but here - it’s not even strong enough).
Six months into O’Bozo’s ‘reign,’ I wrote a letter to my newspaper - which they published - asking what is it with this putz in the White House yelling at me and the country, sounding like a dictator when he’s on TV??? What nerve.’
Thank G_d we’re on the down-side number of years left before we go in and exterminate and repaint the White Hut/Mosque. It should be re-floored and re-carpeted, too. And thoroughly sterilize the silverware, crystal, and china. If we find some left - - -
I sound angry, you say?? Good detection.
“...Its really frustrating...”
I can “hear” it n your comment, I know. You are not alone there.
I was brought up to hit back and hit back hard. I also understand that there’s a time to engage, and a time to move to a better tactical position to be able to engage at a time of your choosing.
But his lack of ANY engagement - especially in his own defense - has always been a source of .. disappointment and irritation to me.
No quarrel with you, brother. Same page.
I was brought up to hit back and hit back hard.
Me, too. (I was born in 1951-Dad was a World War II vet, “Yes sir, no sir” discipline, respect, honesty, honor, stand up for yourself, love of country, etc., etc.)
Glad to be on the same page with you.
Same here, but a little younger.
My old man was WWII Airborne; his brothers and cousins were Pacific Marines, and some were also Army.
Unrepentant, unapologetic, unabashed and un-PC American over here.
Was your Dad in the 101st Airborne?
That’s a proud history your family has.
My uncle who is 90 was a Pacific Marine.
“Unrepentant, unapologetic, unabashed and un-PC American over here”.
You bet!
