Kremlin could provide cash-strapped Greeks a credit line and discounted energy supplies as Alexis Tsipras meets with Putin

Russia could offer debt-ridden Greece controversial loans and discounts on supplies of natural gas in exchange for the country's "assets", according to reports in Moscow.

Alexis Tsipras, Greece’s prime minister, is due to arrive in the city on Tuesday and will meet Vladimir Putin, Russia’s president, on Wednesday.

Athens overtures to Moscow have raised fears the Leftist government is pivoting east in search of alternatives sources of finance as it bids to avoid bankruptcy. Ahead of his visit, Mr Tsipras condemned economic sanctions on Moscow as “a road to nowhere”.

Greece's dalliance with the Kremlin has also attracted criticism for potentially undermining the EU's united front against Russia's military intervention in Ukraine.

Gas company. Train line. A couple of ports.

Strike one port...China brought the Piraeus port operation....and substitute one airbase.

lol

I guess Greeks think being indentured servants to Russia is better than owing the EU?

They might want to think about that a bit more.

I have yet to hear the Greek leader who will say, “Let us roll up our shirtsleeves and work our way out of this problem!”

It’s like greedy children selling off the family collection of silver so they can go partying.

The long awaited dream of the Russian Empire since Peter the Great - A Mediterranean base. A stones throw from the Middle East. That is the asses it wants. Russia than can get involved in the middle East from Iran to the East and the Mediterranean Sea from the West - pincer attack. Just watch Putin will gain this foothold and watch Greece and other parts of Europe - Asia to be brought into the fold. Putin’s Manifest Destiny - Mother Russia to realize the dreams of the Czars!

Why do you believe that Greece won’t become a Russian vassal state?

I’m interested in your take, because it certainly seems like Greece can go the same way Cyprus has.

I know that Greece, the Grecian people, have come to deeply distrust, to the point of hatred, both the Germans and the US.

I figured it would only be a matter of time before Greece and Russia aligned, with their common Orthodox heritage.

RinaseaofDs,

I have been studying prophecy since 1993. I believe that the EU represents the final Beast empire. I believe that the most likely candidates for the three small horns of Daniel 7:8 are among the countries of Greece, Portugal, Spain, and possibly Italy.

“While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully.” Daniel 7:8

In the vision of the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar, the Beast empire is a confederation that is described as a mixture of iron and clay . (Iron and clay do not hold together well.) That sounds like the EU to me.

I have made the assumption that the “uprooted” in Daniel 7:8 means that three countries lose their sovereignty to or are otherwise consumed by or folded into the Beast empire.

The EU masters are not going to let Russia establish itself in their backyard swimming pool.

Not a smart move to sell national assets to Russia, especially if you are on the same continent.
